Greenhorn hikers and campers prep for bigger outdoor adventures at this city park.. Just Right


Just past the northwest side of Loop 1604, this park is far enough outside of San Antonio's bustle to give you some Hill Country solitude but close enough to the city grind to make it an easy escape.

Hikers' Haven
Since it first started work on the park in 1983, the Harmony Hills Optimist Club has done an excellent job of maintaining Eisenhower Park's three miles of hiking trails. The park boasts six different hiking trails in all: Yucca, Cedar Flats, Hillview, Red Oak, Shady Creek and Live Oak. Cedar Flats is especially rewarding: It takes you to an observation tower that affords a remarkable 360-degree view of San Antonio and its surrounding hill country.

Beyond excellent hiking, the park also offers visitors picnic facilities and camping sites (available by reservation), along with free nature programs hosted by certified park naturalists.
