The Scene
If you enter Mexican Manhattan from the street don't be fooled into thinking it's another small Mexican eatery--it's huge. The small, front, booth-filled dining room opens onto another larger dining room, but don't stop there. Follow through to the bar, a beautiful high-ceiling room with exposed brick, grand patios, a view of the Riverwalk and one of the better Bloody Marys made in the city. The friendly and knowledgeable bar staff is only too eager to make certain that your drink matches your expectations and that vegetarians get a choice other than bean and cheese nachos.
The Food
While the food may not be the best Mexican food in San Antonio, the portions are huge. The Manhattan Royal includes a beef taco as big as a skyscraper, an enchilada, a chili-covered tamale, avocado salad, and beans and rice--definitely a two-plate entree.

35th Year Wedding Anniversary celebration - on the river! Superbly arranged and catered out, by the entire staff of the Mexican Manhattan. Inclement weather hampering events, including a featured barge ride, the staff responded with multiple contingencies keeping our celebration extremely pleasant for our guests and us - yet still managed to pull off all our plans and expectations. The 5th half star not on their overall rating should be awarded based on their overall quality of service from this event. Guests comments were: "Not aware of this service and setting - definitely will return." Many Thanks!

Unfortunatley my family and I headed into the riverwalk at the wrong place and decided to eat here. Worst mistake ever. The only thing that was ok was the service and the margaritas so if you only want drinks and prefer to sit outside it would be fine, the food and atmosphere inside was my problem. The food was so greasy and there was no variety, the salsa was very bland the chips were to thick....and the compliants about the food could go on and on. The inside looks like an old dingy cafeteria with nasty florecent lights. The manager was kind of rude when we mentioned we did not want to sit in the main area due to this it was just flat out so ugly. Like I said our server was very nice He is normally just the bartender though. I do not recomend it at all..........at all it was over piced I paid around $70 it was worth $15, could of had a far better meal at taco bell.

Would not recommend. Food was not that great and the service was terrible. The waitress was not helpful at all. She took our food order and as soon as we gave her the last one she quickly walked away. We were not done ordering, we were going to also get mixed drinks but would not give us the time of day to complete our ordering. We tried to call her back and she ignored us. One person in our party wanted a small plate to put her taco on so it would be seperate from the food to avoid being soggy. It took the waitress 20 minutes before she brought that plate. We had to chase her down if we wanted anything else and even then we didn't get it. We also had to wait 30 minutes for her to bring the bill. It was just terrible. There are many very good places to eat at downtown, expecially on the River Walk. Don't waist your time or money on this one.. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
