Pros: Great Drinks, Friendly Staff, Good Food
Cons: Inside could use an update…
GREAT Traditional Mexican Food!!!!.
We went to this restaurant with a group of 10 at approximately 5:00 PM on a Friday evening. From the moment we walked in it was a very pleasant experience! The hostess quickly arranged tables to
accommodate us as we were a walk-in party. Once seated the server was very pleasant and prompt with our drink orders. During the ordering phase she was very helpful with information on the entrees and their contents.
It seemed like no time after our orders were takes that all the meals were coming out of the kitchen. All the orders were prepared wonderfully and just described. The portion sizes were enormous! I’m not one to eat like a bird and these servings pushed my limits.
Having to been to Mexico many times I would equate this food to more what would be categorized as traditional Mexican food. Given that clarification the foods taste spot on wonderful! I had the 2 enchilada dinner with rice, beans and gravy and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. Others had a variety from the 2 taco dinner to Fajita Dinner, All commented about the excellence of their meals. I feed 2 adults and a teenage girl for less than $50. As an added server bonus if you’ve been out with a party sometimes it’s unclear if the tip has been included in your bill. Our server not only highlighted the fact that the a 15% tip had been included on every bill but entered it in the final bill she brought back for signature eliminating any confusion.
Hands down I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the San Antonio area that was looking to enjoy traditional Mexican food and receive great prices, service, quality and quantity of the food.…
Classic San antonio. My family has been coming here for Fifty years. The food is always Excellent. The Chulpas Compuestas are to die for. i love this place always will. Ask for refried bean when you order a meal you'll be glad you did…
"A Night To Remember!".
35th Year Wedding Anniversary celebration - on the river! Superbly arranged and catered out, by the entire staff of the Mexican Manhattan. Inclement weather hampering events, including a featured
barge ride, the staff responded with multiple contingencies keeping our celebration extremely pleasant for our guests and us - yet still managed to pull off all our plans and expectations.
The 5th half star not on their overall rating should be awarded based on their overall quality of service from this event.
Guests comments were: "Not aware of this service and setting - definitely will return."
Many Thanks!…
Horrible the worst food almost ever!. Unfortunatley my family and I headed into the riverwalk at the wrong place and decided to eat here. Worst mistake ever. The only thing that was ok was the service and the margaritas so if you only want drinks and prefer to sit outside it would be fine, the food and atmosphere inside was my problem. The food was so greasy and there was no variety, the salsa was very bland the chips were to thick....and the compliants about the food could go on and on. The inside looks like an old dingy cafeteria with nasty florecent lights. The manager was kind of rude when we mentioned we did not want to sit in the main area due to this it was just flat out so ugly. Like I said our server was very nice He is normally just the bartender though. I do not recomend it at all..........at all it was over piced I paid around $70 it was worth $15, could of had a far better meal at taco bell.…
