Running alongside the San Antonio River through downtown, this alluring pathway takes you past shops, restaurants and hotels galore..
Initially developed in the 1920s as part of a flood diversion program, the Riverwalk became a gratifying example of getting the most out of a natural resource. Small wonder that "Paseo del Río" is the most-visited tourist attraction in the state, combining fun and functionality. The Riverwalk's entertaining, but it's also a good way to criss-cross downtown.
By turns scenic, urban and even romantic, the below-ground corridor is an inviting place to meander leisurely along in the off-hours or jostle with crowds during prime time. With alfresco service at the many bars and restaurants, people-watching opportunities abound. Cruise boats puttering back and forth add to the charming mix.
Fun on the Run. The riverwalk is a great day trip planner. There is so much to do. You can walk along the river and shop in all the fine shops, eat at the wonderful cafes and restaurants, and at night enjoy live music and lights.
Walk Walk Walk. Very nice setting. Good crowds. The in place in San Antonio.
