The Scene – Tucked in a tiny Olmos Park shopping center, Bistro Vatel captures the feel of a Parisian eatery, complete with specials listed on a chalkboard and tables draped in white cloths and a piece of butcher paper. – – The Food – French chefs have never met a dish they couldn't improve with a sauce. No exception here: The chef at Bistro Vatel is a master of the art, preparing a magically well-balanced cream sauce for the steamed mussels, a tangy and rich tomato sauce for the salmon and a plump wine sauce that turns what could have been a mundane chicken breast…

One of my favourite restaurants in San Antonio and far superiour to other, more "renowned" French restaurants, this little jewel of a restaurant shines on in my eyes! This is a bistro to linger over several courses with good friends, good wine and lively conversation. My faves here are the Coq au Vin (truly, truly sublime!) and the appetizer of Mussels steeped in white wine and cream. Magnifique!!
- Pros: Traditional French bistro cuisine prepared exquisitely
Fois Gras they way it should be.

What a great find in the city of san antonio. A couple friends and I went there one evening on a whim to try some great french cuisine. We were not dissapointed. For starters a trio of Fois Gras, heavenly!!! Food was perfect and the staff was great, our waitress was the perfect fit for the restaurant. All in all, one of the best dining experiences I've had in San Antonio.
Wonderful food.

The restaurant is a small, out-of-the-way place but the food is truely world class. Parking is about the only problem.
- Pros: World class food.
- Cons: Parking
