A hidden gem well worth finding!. My husband and I (Austinites) have dined at the Welfare many times over the past four years. The food is phenomenal - on par with what you'd expect from a fine-dining establishment in any major city. Creative specials, excellent wine list and knowledgeable, attentive staff. Truly one of the best dining experiences in the Hill Country. more than worth the drive.

Extraordinarily Good!! This Place is a Find!. This is a can't miss place when you are looking for a great escape from the big, bad City and cookie cutter national chains on TV dinner like menus. It is well worth the traveling time, a scenic drive that once off the highway, is a bit soothing.

The menu here is creative & different, the whole experience really is. My favorite is to drive out there at sunset and get there at dusk. The place looks great at night. The food is the best. I love the Steak!!! I also love the Jager Snitszel!!! The Peach Jalepeno Chicken is great as well. This is a place to most definately have a before dinner cocktail at!!! This is dinner & a mini-vacation rolled into one! The ambience is real nice and I especially like the soft, eclectic mix of music. Take friends as it is just the place for great conversation along with a truly fine meal. Do not miss this place no matter what you do!
