Do they really care about the ANIMALS or THE MONEY?!!!/. My family has been going there for 20+ years ever since we got our first family pet. about 20 years ago. My best friend and their family goes there for a fair amount of time. I just got done spending over $560.00 on an exam routine shots and one xray that took less than an hour. I have been to the EMERGENCY clinic for basically the same but more intense exam and paid only $380.00 and change. Plus I spent another $400.00 a few months ago for another one of my kids. Now the kid I just spent almost $600 needs more test and work. I told them that I was just recently let go from my job and my wife had neck surgery yesterday. she will be out of work for about 8 weeks. I have two checks coming from my old job, my has atleast one huge paycheck coming next friday, lpus her disability should kick in soon, plus she has PTO she can use. Plus my unemployment willl kick in on the 15th of this month. The DR!!! told me that she and the radiologist were "really concerned" for Willie. So I proceeded to tell her the position I was in and could use a little help. Mind you I just spent more than $560.00 in the last couple of days. She told me that they couldn't help me. That I should go apply for a credit care card. I told her that I have and used it. The DR!!!! then told me my cat could die if not treated. I then explained to her I would have all the money up front. I needed help for my baby boy. she told me that the reason they won't help me was because of "people" that have burned them before. I thought that this was an ANIMAL HOSPITAL, I thought that these people cared for ANIMALS like i do, but apparently I thought wrong. This issue has nothing to do with a human it has everything to do with a defenseless animal, that is MY CHILD. My wife and I can't have kids so these are our babies, and they know this ive told them this probably every time i go. I know if i need serious medical treatment I can go to the hospital and get help whether I have money insurance or whatever. That is where the conversation. I have new a new dentist just for a reason similar to this, but in reverse order. I had dentist I liked he wasn't sure he could do the job complete without sending me to a specialist. So i decided to look for a regular dentist that was coffident enough so I didnt have to pay for a specialist. But I didn't have all the money but really needed the work. (root canal). I was refered by someone I barley knew but they were very convincing so I called the doc and explained the situation he told me come now, money can wait. Same dentist also built my wife a whole new set of the MOST BEAUTIFUL teeth I have ever seen KNowing we did not have $10,000.00 to do that. but fought the insurane to pay most of it usually the patient is in charge of that. then our part we pay aas we go, and are never denided service of any kind

Dr. S. Rebekah Byrd is the best vet I have ever known. As soon as I met Dr. Rebekah Byrd I new my dog was in extremely capable hands. She was professorial, personable and very knowledgeable.

I feel my pet has received the best care an owner could ask for!!

Dr. Byrd was time efficient while also taking the time to answer all my questions (I did not know there were DVM that still did that-- but she does!) so when you leave you feel very comfortable in understanding the diagnoses you were given and all your questions answered.

As far a pricing I personally feel the prices are more than completive and exceedingly fair considering the time the vet spends with your pet.

In Addition as for keeping in touch, she and the staff do a great job if she says she will call with the test results she will call, great follow through.(not something you always get but here you do.)

In the past I've been taking my dogs to a another well know vet clinic. Although the DVM was capable he/she could never match the caring and compassion Dr. Byrd has for your pet. She truly wants what is best for your pet and you.

The other vet I used to goto I felt the " clock was ticking and the DVM was pushing me out the door to get as many patients through as possible, and part of there job was to sell me everything in store.

I personally feel Northern Oaks has it right my pets health first and then advise me (not sell) any products she may need. Because of this particular way of doing business I wiil be purchasing as many of my products from them as i can.

I also want to recognize the staff. They are always friendly, efficient, and take pride in their work. In the short time I've been coming to this clinic they already know my name, my pet name and her conditions. I call that superior customer service coming from a great staff.

To sum up I hold Dr. Byrd in the highest regard and fell lucky for her to be my pets life- time vet.

Sincerely,

A dog Lover.

Excellent care. This is a place where I know ALL of my pets are loved. They are not "cat people" or "dog people" but everything people! Very professional and I know all of my babies are in good hands. I always get a call from the doctor to keep me up to date on whichever one of my animals are there and they have always been fair and extremely knowledgeable and kind. The techs are also friendly and the front staff knows me and my animals by name when we walk in. The groomers are excellent. They have done miracles with my formerly matted setter. They are very detailed and are perfectionists and my dog never minds going for her spa day.

Lack of parking /// accessing. I have been a customer for about 5 yr.

First Jamie Melios Faylis and now doctor Vargo.

Expressing anal glands and nails clipped by technicians who do a good job at NC.

Receptionists busy efficient people who are pleasant.

Really up to date facility and clean, seems well organized with good records.

Always receive a followup phone call on how the animal is doing the next day.

I trust the doctor to know what she is doing.

Negative= little expensive & the parking

Positive= Complete facility with good groomer, boarding etc.

A very special place. We had taken our little dog. It was runned over that evening and I didn't know what to do. I called for help on my poor little dog passing away. They asked me to come in and they would take care of everything. I did and said my farewells. Later, that following week I recieved the most wonderfull, precious thing the ashes of my Bonnie. I was so, blessed with an ornament, picture (guess the one they had from her exams) and a very nice letter about my Bonnie. Thank you so much for all your care!

Avoid this clinic if you love your pet!!!. I have to agree with the other reviewers that they are expensive(like four times the usual price at other clincis!) and have short hours. The man problem is that their techs are inexperienced, the office is run poorly and their routine health exams are too short and incomplete. If you love your pet, you will go elsewhere!!

Incredible Customer Service. I've done some price shopping because I have multiple pets & Northern Oaks is a bit more expensive than most... BUT the customer service and loving care you receive is unbeatable. We, too, had to put a couple of our dogs down in the past few years. The doctors and staff were very empathetic and helped us through the process and even let us stay in the room during the final moments and then afterwards as long as we wanted. They also offer cremation.

There's hardly ever a wait & they also do boarding if you ever need it.

Highly recommend!

An Amazingly Great Experience. I have had nothing but incredible service at Northern Oaks. My cat became very ill a few years ago and I was having to go in almost every other day to see the doctors there. They treated me, my cat and the situation with so much attention, love and concern that you would have thought it was their cat! After having to take my cat to an emergency vet office for emergency surgery, the doctors at Northern Oaks still kept in constant contact with me. Dr. McGlothlin even asked that I call her to let her know his status every so often (keep in mind this was during Christmas break). I just could not believe how caring they were. My cat has since recovered and I would never dream of taking him anywhere else. Also, my sister had to put her dog to sleep at Northern Oaks. She was so distraught and in pain over this. Dr. Byrd comforted her and let her stay in a room with the dog for as long as she needed. She and the staff made what could have been a very painful experience a little better for her. I could go on and on about the vets there. Bottom line: this is an amazing place. Only thing I would change would be making the hours a little longer during the week and on weekends. other than that, NO complaints. I love them! They saved my baby's (cat's) life! I have a second cat now that sees Dr. Milios and she could not be nicer or more helpful! You cannot go wrong at Northern Oaks. Your pet is in good hands.
