Price Gouging and Animal Negligence

My 6 lb maltipoo had a cut above eyelid that needed 4 stitches and immediate care. I was first told by Dr. Brown that I would have to wait 2 days for the stitches, but then another doctor said that they would stay and take care of my dog. I waited over 2 hours while they worked up an estimate of almost $900.00 to do 4 stitches on my dog. My poor little dog had to wait with me while I tried to decide what to do. By then it was 5 :40pm and I called Stoneoak Vet up the street and Dr.Tischer said he would wait for me and take care of my dog. He took care of my dog in 25 minutes and 4 stitches later for 1/4 of the price that Family Pet Hospital was going to charge me. I was outraged by the way my dog and I were treated. I am surprised that this Family pet hospital stays in business. Since my bad experience I have heard similar stories about Family Pet Hospital. I am thankful to Stoneaok vet for their help but I am still trying to recover from the "ripped off' experience with Family Pet Hospital.

Please Be Advised

Been going to them for over 15 years, in the neighborhood, good doctors, but not cheap.

Recently scheduled my dogs for bathing and upon scheduling was advise one needed vaccination. OK, when arrived was advised of charge for missing previous bathing apppointment (never advised of policy change), vaccinations, bloodwork (not authorized) and total of over $400! When I questioned this I was very unprofessionally advised that police would be call (they were) to escort me out. In process of asking for previous statements and will pursue action as needed.

Lab Results Slow & Estimates Overshot

Twice they came in at 200% of the "estimated" price. Once, the $450 estimate was $900...!

Many times, they don't call back with any lab results unless you call them, multiple times....

If you don't have patience, they are not for you.

• Cons: Interface to the customer uneven
