i ordered some ice tea and had to wait like 5 seconds before i got it.. what kind of nonsense is that, all the food sucks execpt the fish.. the fish is all badass especially without the sauce...besides the weck fish the only other good thing about the restaurant was the sexy ass bus boy that worked there for like a month, he was tall,dark, and had beautiful amazing luscious long hair that flowed in the wind even though the restaurant was indoors, he also had big gorgeous brown eyes that you easliy get lost in.. he was like a chocolate jesus!!!.....other than that sarikas thai on medical dr sucked
Worst customer service I have ever had – I had the displeasure of visiting Sarika's Thai restaurant today. My wife suggested we go there to celebrate her recent graduation from training as an LVN. From the start, I was taken aback due to the delay in greeting us and getting us seated. We waited at the entrance for nearly 10 minutes, with nobody else waiting with us, for someone to acknowledge us and ask us to be seated. My wife finally tapped a waitress on the shoulder and asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves. We were met with an annoyed look from the waitress. She found us a place and sat us. She immediately left. We waited another few minutes for another waitress to ask what we wanted to drink. We both asked for water with lemon. After nearly 10 minutes, we were brought iced tea. My wife corrected the waitress in what we had asked for. The drinks were taken away and replaced with water after about another 5 minutes. We then waited to order, after receiving menus along with the water. It took 15 minutes before my wife waved her arm to get the attention of our waitress. This waitress was occupying her time with seating other customers and bringing their bills to the cashier and had not stopped by nor even glanced our way to see if we were ready to order. By this time, I was nearly out of patience, but I held my tongue in respect to my wife's pleadings to not make a scene. Our order was taken and we proceeded to wait for our meal to arrive. During this time, a young couple was seated at the table right next to our own. Another waitress, along with our own, started up a conversation with the young man of this couple. They appeared to know him and commented about how they were glad to see him again. From what I heard, he was a regular. They brought him and his companion their drinks and took their order immediately. Meanwhile, my wife and I continued to wait for our meal. I was on my lunch break and had to return to work by 1PM. We waited for about another 15 minutes or so, which would not have been a big deal normally except for what happened next. The couple seated next to us, received their meal from their waitress. All in all, it took about 10 to 15 minutes from the time they arrived to the time their meals were placed before them. I decided that I could not keep quiet any longer. I removed myself from the table and asked to speak to the manager. I was shown where he was by another waitress by way of her pointing to him behind the register. She did not even have the courtesy to walk me over to him and tell him that I needed to speak to him.
How sad... – Well, I have always loved Sarikas. The food has always been really good. The last time I went I asked two people working there if they would deliver to my new office. I explained where it is and they agreed to deliver there. SO...one saturday (3/5/11), a bunch of nurses who I work with and myself included wanted to order and have Sarika's delivered to us. It took a long time to get the order together as it was large and to collect the money (which was impressive) and place the call. The young man who answered studdered and stammered about delivering 4.3 miles instead of their usual 3 mile radius. He stated that he would have to charge another $5.00 fuel surcharge in order to deliver. On top of the $5.00 charge, you are required to order a minimum of $15.00 worth of food. No problem with the minimum because as I said the order was large. The problem was with the fuel SURCHARGE. It is a well know fact that nurses tip very well and order from their favorite restaurant very often. Needless to say, I did not feel that adding the fuel surcharge onto the bill was smart. There was no mention of the surcharge when I spoke to the female and male supervisors a couple of weeks prior. Well, I did not order, gave the money back to everyone and explained why I refused to pay it. Most of them agreed with my decision. They wouldn't pay it either. HMMM. Guess we all lost out. What a shame. So if you can drive, walk or fly there, then great but if you live 1 tenth of a mile over 3 miles you will have to pay an extra $5.00 for gas. I guess you could just not tip but that would be tacky. Sorry delivery person.....could have made your day.
i love this restaurant. these other reviews are old & wrong! – i have been going to sarika's for years. it's one of my favorite restaurants and i always refer friends here. i've been to other thai restaurants and they have fallen short in camparison! sarika's is always hot and fresh and the portions are fair for the price. i have never had a bad experience there and will continue to eat there for years to come. if you go, you HAVE to have the coconut ice cream with sticky rice for dessert! it is fantastic!!!
Inconsistent and Average – This wasn't my first time at Sarika's Thai, and generally it is pretty good, but for some reason this time was not. The steamed rice was undercooked and a little tough. The curry chicken was a bit too sweet and not spicy enough for my taste. I wasn't asked what level of spiciness I would like, like I think they did before. Some of the upholstery on the chairs needs cleaning, and the one of the busboys or waiters was clanking down the china plates on the glass topped tables making a huge racket. There weren't any people sitting at the tables, he was only setting the table for dinner time. I did like the chicken, however, it was cooked to perfection and you could cut it with a fork it was so tender. The tiny spring rolls were a bit overdone and the filling was an undiscernible mass of vegetable matter. Even though I live a few blocks away, I will probably travel to another Thai restaurant next time. Maybe the one on Blanco near Jackson-Keller with its pothole parking lot.
best service – Hey fuc you MateoC. go to that other fuced up restaurant bich. Why you hating on sarikas, just go to burger king bich.
Not Consistent, Was A Favorite Not Anymore. – I used to like this place but we then there for dinner yesterday and it was terrible. The curry was tasteless, hardly any sauce and cold. When we told the waiter, he took it away can back five minutes later and you can tell that they microwaved it. The portions have gotten smaller and the price higher, service was not that great. We will not be coming here again. They are not consistent, food is cold and bland.
Tasty food and – After losing hope in finding decent Thai food in SA, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this place. The food overall is good and the pad thai is tasty. If I were to recommend a Thai restaurant in SA, it would be this one. While I agree with the previous poster on certain points (about the tofu and egg rolls), I would still recommend this place above any other Thai restaurant in San Antonio.
Average to kind of gross – I've given this place a shot twice. Since moving from Dallas I was eager to find great Thai food to replace the awesome food I was used to--particularly for my insatiable pad thai cravings. I ordered the pad thai with chicken and was beyond disappointed. The portion size was on the small side (and I'm not a huge eater, nor a big girl). As well, te noodles, chicken, and sauce were all bland, the spring rolls were more akin to shriveled, shrunken, 1/2 a bite egg rolls, and--most odd of all--the tofu was deep-fried. In fact, I couldn't figure out what I was eating the first time I bit into it--it was a yellowish breaded strip with a spongy consistency. I realized it was tofu and then confirmed it with someone at my table. I felt as though I had completely wasted $7 and precious calories. The second time I tried it--out of sheer desperation for forgetting my lunch at home--I had the mongolian beef and felt that it was a total waste again.
excellent food, good portions, worth every penny – everytime i go there. there are hardly any people and i can't figure out why. it's a good location, great atmosphere, and the food is wonderful. i love their spring rolls and you MUST TRY the coconut ice cream and sticky rice. i get it everytime! it's the perfect ending. i love the pad see ew (i'm not sure if that's spelled correctly) and the another dish that i'm sure what the name is, something like pad something something kratim, and their duck is VERY good.
