In Short – Breakfast choices have been increased to include pancakes, waffles and omelets. There are new specialty sandwiches, like the Beef and Stuff (roast beef, provolone cheese, sauteed mushrooms, bell pepper and onion on toasted beer bread) with chips. More soups are joining the popular carrot-ginger as well as the sausage and potato. Baked specialties, based on homemade croissant and Danish dough, range from cakes and cookies to muffins and tarts.

Editor's Tips

food lovers heaven

by mrbutch at Citysearch

This is one of my favorite places in town. The food is simple, sandwiches, desserts, etc. But they manage to take a simple thing like sandwiches and bring them to a level most sandwiches could only fantasize about. Their carrot soup is delectable. And I don't even like carrots much. Their desserts are varied and the only thing bad about them is deciding which one to choose. You feel like a kid in a candy shop and you mother says choose one thing. It is hard to decide what to get. The owners are down to earth and very personable as is the staff. I don't know if I take more time deciding what to order or more time eating the food. The choices are amazing. It is a comfortable place where you can sit for a long time eat, talk to friends, and not feel they are staring down your neck trying to get you to move on.

Great little place that is hardly ever open

by MattTx at Citysearch

I live near this place and love to stop in for the rustic potato soup and sandwiches. The pastries are very good too. I used to go in only during the weekends because of their hours I was unable to go in during the weekday. It is frustrating now they are not open during the weekends. I don't see how they manage to stay in business with the hours they keep.

  • Pros: Excellent food, friendly staff
  • Cons: Hours of operation

Amazing food!

by Zenergy at Citysearch

I've been going to Nicavids for 4 years now...and I've only lived in San Antonio for 2! When I would visit my parents in San Antonio I would always look forward to visiting Nicavids for some delicious, healthy food. It was one of the only places I could find a really wholesome meal on the go, and it still is! Now that I live here, you can bet I visit Nicavids as often as I can!

  • Pros: free parking, outdoor seating available, friendly owners, healthy/fresh food
  • Cons: It's sooo good, sometimes there's a big lunch rush w/ a long line, but well worth the wait!

Everything's AWESOME here!

by shugal1 at Citysearch

I don't write reviews unless I feel very passionate about the product, place, etc... But Nicavids is one in a million. Everything here is so fresh and delicious. It doesn't matter what you order, you won't be disappointed. It's a family owned business and the enviornment is very casual and relaxed. I discovered them a few months back and they have quickly turned into my favorite restaurant.

  • Pros: The Food
  • Cons: only one stomach
