Not really good.
This review is for BOTH locations (1604 & IH-10).
Food was okay - not authentic and not always served at correct temperatures.
Service was spotty - even when the area is less than 1/2 full.
Cleanniness is below average too - the resturant on IH-10 is showing it's age, furniture is chipping, and dust on a lot of the ledges.
I could not recommend either place for my friends or family.
Lousy excuse for Japanese food.. Japanese food is difficult to find in San Antonio, and Sushi Zushi isn't the place to try. I've been visiting Japan for the past 12 years, and I've never eaten food this bad in all my travels. This restaurant doesn't even use the right variety of rice. Their tempura is disgraceful. To top it off, it's expensive. Save your money and your tastebuds.
avoid at all cost. recently after eating at sushi zushi, i became VIOLENTLY ill with food poi son ing, how do I know it was food po ison ing? because I ended up in the hospital! Sushi Zushi DENIED that it occurred and became unresponsive, I will never eat there again!!!! Not to mention the food was mediocre at best. Has anyone else had trouble with food poi son ing there at sushi zushi at ANY of thier branches???
No authentic Japanese food, but a good place for sushi beginners.
Sadly but true, i agree w/ previous review of Sushi Zushi not being authentic to the true Japanese sushi style. For those of you who got a chance to taste authenticy Japanese udon, or ramen, plz don't waste ur money order their udon, because they are Sweet! yuck >"<
If you think at least the Nigiri Sushis has to be authentic, try again. The qualtiy of rice and it's taste simply can not compare to the authentic Moon Light Rice in Japan.
Their menu is clearly American/Mexican modified-California Roll is NOT authentic Japanese Sushi, I've Never heard about such thing until i come here!!. Not a good place to look for authentic Jap food, but it suits well with their modern ambiance. A good place for those sushi beginners, since the taste is modify to suit American's taste.
ps. Their flavor tea comes in a bottle (Republic of Tea), quite expensive, i feel like drinking perfume when i smell all those chemical aromas and taste nothing...it's a love or hate thing from my observations of my friends. Regular tea w/lemon is just as good.
Pleasant Surprise+life extended-read reviews hehe. Expectations were not high, since it was in a strip mall, but it was very clean, modern decor and great ambience. We tried 6 different rolls, appetizers and sake and everything was good. Try the Acapulco Roll, mackerel nigiri & especially the Q-Roll, which our server suggested. The Q-Roll was by far one of the best rolls we have ever had! Extensive menu and great service. I've had sushi in San Francisco, NY & other cities with great sushi & this was comparable. If I lived in San Antonio, I would definitely come back here, at least to get the Q Roll! Expensive, but if quality is important to you, it is a fantastic choice.
Insult to Japanese Food. I have never had worse Japanese food than Sushi Zushi. I could not finish my food. Maybe I am spoiled because I lived in Japan for three years. I would not recommend this place if you want authentic Japanese food.
YUM SUSHI!. Sushi Zushi is a good place to eat sushi. The atmosphere is casual and accepting of all types. The selection of the rolls was above and beyond what I would expect from any sushi restaurant. This was my first experience of eating sushi in San Antonio and I definitely will be back.
Simply the Best.
At Sushi Zushi you'll find sushi unlike any you've ever had. The mix of a Mexican touch to this wonderfully diverse food makes this restaurant the best. Try the chiles torreados, grilled green chiles served in Sushi Zushi's special joy sauce. You can put it on any item on the menu and it tasts wonderfull with a little kick. The presentation of the food along with the service is also excellent.
You can mke reservations anytime and it's family friendly too.
Great Service. I have only been to San Antonio a few times, and a friend recommended me to try sushi at Sushi Zushi. I went to the one at Stone Oak. The setting is beautiful, workers were diligent, and we had the greatest waitress. She was prompt, polite, and very helpful. The sushi was not the greatest, but good enough. Our waitress made the experience very satisfying.
World-Class Sushi. This is the greatest sushi ever, and I am a real suchi junkie. They have some of the best rolls (try the Cosomo Roll) and the seaweed salad is the best around! The Stone Oak location in particular is gorgeous... ENJOY, and eat more sushi...
