Great Place – We have been a member of Victory Martial Arts Leon Springs going for 18 months. I can’t say enough on how pleased we are with the results we have seen with our children. Our family members are so impressed with our children behavior, attitude and respectfulness that they want us to take their children for the summer so Mr. Turner can use his magic on them. I decided to also practice at Victory earlier this year, and since then I have lost over 15lbs and several inches off my waist (which my wife is very pleased). Victory’s schedule and programs are very flexible which allows are family to practice together, but also allows the children and myself to have their own small classes (we have a 3yr old boy and 4 yr old girl). Additionally my wife and I can spend some quality time together attending Kickboxing class with the other parents. Once a month the Victory staff provides a parent’s night out which allows my wife and I to have some “us time”. The kids have such a great time during “parents’ night out” that they do not want to leave. I can write pages and pages on the benefits of joining Victory Martial Arts, all I need to say the staff of Victory Martial Arts (Mr. Elder, Mr. Turner, Mr. Wilson, Ms Collins and Ms. Samon) are one o f the bests I have dealt with.
Awesome school for the whole family – My family first started attending the Leon Springs Victory Martial Arts school over seven years ago. At first I didn't know what to expect because I had never done martial arts of any kind. Well many years later I can tell you without a doubt that it has been a great part of our lives. I enjoy working out with my family. The staff is always friendly. The head instructor, Mr. Turner, pushes us to do even better each day. This is turned from a hobby to a way of life. I would recommend this school to anyone.
Terrific travel to a Black Belt – My daughter's journey to her black belt has been a fantastic experience. Her confidence in herself has grown by leaps and bounds. Her martial arts abilities and overall fitness has also greatly increased. My goal for her was for her to be able to defend herself due to her small size. I have little doubt that this goal has been met and greatly exceeded. Mr. Turner and his staff has kept her motivated and I know she will continue to improve and the skills she is learning and practicing will serve her well not only in her Taekwondo but in her life as well. A great thank you to Mr. Elder for brining Mr. Turner and this staff to Victory at Leon Springs.
The only thing I learned was not to sign a contract! – This place is a scam! I have two boys and have enrolled them in numerous programs over the years. I have never been asked to sign a three year contract in anything they have ever done.
If Victory was truly a quality program, then they would not need a multi-year contract commitment.
They are pushy and keep charging outrageous fees for unnecessary equipment. Shop around and review the Better Business Bureau before signing up for this facility.
Once you do complain, then they refer you to a third party in another state that bought your contract. Victory will claim that you owe them the money. We had a terrible experience trying to get out of this contract after being charged for belts, graduation fees, etc. DO NOT JOIN!!
Caused serious medical problems in my husband – I previously posted (as mmez - the computer refuses to allow me to post again using that name) that we were excited about finding the Victory school on Bandera and that my children we doing well in it. Well, my husband decided to start taking classes with our children since he was up there anyway. My husband is healthy and has run a marathon and multiple half marathons, so fitness isn't really an issue. When he tested for his Black Belt, the test lasted for over 5 hours in which time, the testers were only allowed 2 small water breaks. The main instructors told them before the testing started that if they got water or took a break when they were not supposed to that they would not get promoted to the rank of Black belt. After the testing ended, I had to call 911 due to my husband being in severe distress. He was taken to the hospital where it was discovered that he was in near kidney failure due to severe dehydration after 5+ hours of constant working-out. He was in the hospital for 2 days. When we talked to the instructors, they laughed and said that it was a good thing he did not test in June when it's really hot. My husband asked if he could schedule some time to sit down and talk to them about everything that happened and he was told that there was nothing to talk about and sent on his way.
We have been advised by numerous people within the ATA community that we should obtain legal council. Our opinion is, however, that we are not sue-happy and only want to see that this does not happen to anyone else. The instructors do not care about the health and well-being of the students and think they are doing them a favor by giving them 2 sips of water during testing since they used to not allow ANY water during the 5+ hour test. I'm not sure how denying water is proving how good of a martial artist you are, but until someone gets seriously injured (more than the kidney damage that my husband suffered) of dies, I doubt anything will change.
PLEASE be cautious when dealing with the folks at Victory. They may know a little bit about martial arts, but I can assure you that they know nothing about common sense when it comes to the hydration needs of a person while working out for over 5 hours...
Worth The Money – I have been a member of Victory for many years now and I love it now as much, if not more, than when I started. From the first day Mr. Elder encouraged me and helped me build my self esteem to levels I previously would have believed not possible. Although I do not have small children, I have watched many students grow from unsure, awkward girls and boys into athletic, confident, respectful young adults. I wish this school would have been available when my kids were growing up. Mr. Turner has taken on the role as the main instructor at this location, and although Mr. Elder is an incredible teacher, Mr. Turner is equally inspiring. Kickboxing is a great alternative to those who may be afraid of trying Taekwando. Worth the money.
Talented instructor – Mr. Turner, the chief instructor at Victory MA in Leon Springs has won several championships in various competitions. He clearly has skills to share, and he works very hard to set a good example for his students.
Our child has been attending Mr Turner's school for almost three years. She has learned to set goals and is physically stronger and coordinated. We are impressed with her progress.
Great for the family! – We have really enjoyed our experience at Victory Martial Arts in Leon Springs. This is our second year and I can honestly say that we are better people, physically and mentally for being a part of the Victory team! My husband and I have 3 children and have seen big improvements in all of them in different ways. My oldest has ADHD and it is awesome to see her self esteem improving each time she applies herself in class. Mr. Turner is great with the kids (adults, too) and sincerely cares about them and drives them to be their
Both Mr. Elder and Mr. Turner are down to earth people and worthy of the respect they get from their students. All I can say about the financial side is, you are making an investment and striving to be a better you. If you don't think it's worth it, don't join. I, for one, am glad we did and think we all need to stand up, push ourselves to be better, take responsibility for our actions and not blame or point the finger at others for imperfections.
Great for the Family! – My children have been in martial arts school for several years now. After a recent move, we found a new school and enrolled my children in it. The instructors did not know how to work with children. Every time my son would test for rank, they would change the requirements and not promote him. We left that school and looked for a school that would be a better fit for our family. We found the Victory school on Bandera to be the winner! The instructors took time to listen to us and our needs. They worked with my children to get them excited about martial arts again. They know how to work and teach small children and promote self confidence in them. My children LOVE going to class again and the staff promotes a real "Can Do" attitude and displays a positive influence. Both of my children have improved and are exhibiting better focus and confidence! My husband and I even joined in the fun!
Good Family Program – I am not a student but know several people who go there with their kids. I have also met the instructors. It seems to me like a great place for families and my friends are always talking about how much they like it and how their kids have improved. One of these days I will make time for it.
