A San Antonio secret! SISH should be a national chain!.
Go to their website to downlod a coupon for a free shrimp ceviche cocktail. Just liek everything else at Sea Island, the first couple of bites takes a bit getting used to...then you realize that this "different" taste is really, really amazing. From their "hot" green beans (the absolute best!) to fresh fries, everything I have ever had there is always hot and fresh. Be patient if you are here on a Friday night of Saturday, but the wait is worth it. Their signature is the "Charbroiled shrimp", which are lightly breaed, then half-fried and finished over thegrill. Coconut shrimp are also bomb, oh, and the gumbo is the best I've had this side of Galveston. And I don't even like gumbo or seafood that much. But Shrimp island changed that. When we have out of town guests staying with us, a trip to Shrimp Island is always on the agenda.

Family-run San Antonio chain restaurant offers a variety of seafood in a low-key nautical setting..
In Short
Ship wheels separate two main dining areas. The full menu, offering combinations, also caters to children and seniors with fairly generous portions. Appetizers include lightly breaded fried calamari rings (with marinara sauce) and ceviche--shrimp marinated in lime juice, tomatoes and herbs. Two popular dishes feature the house fish, Icelandic pollock: fried fillets or lemon peppered, with cole slaw, fries and two hush puppies. The char-broiled shrimp is kabob style. Steaks are available.
