In Short – The Watermark hotel's riverside restaurant features a glass oyster bar, a 10-seat private dining room and fresh seafood flown in daily. Diners can sit at wooden tables in the stone-walled interior or on the shady terrace overlooking the river. Popular appetizers include butterflied Gulf shrimp and a roasted butternut soup with shrimp and sage leaves. Heavier fare is highlighted by grilled red snapper and Prince Edward Island mussels chorizo.

I had a very good meal at Pesca. Highly recommend the Alaska black cod with Oyster curry. Although the Sonoran Seafood Cocktai l was a bit bland and they were out of the wine I ordered. The placemment wine was good but the service was slow
look elsewhere for a great seafood experience

This weekend was my second experience at Pesca, and it compelled me to write a review (my first). This restaurant has EVERYTHING going for it. The Watermark hotel is an incredible place to stay - definitely one of the nicest if not THE nicest place to stay on the river. But, Pesca misses the mark.
I will say the people seem nice. But sometimes the service seems good and other times you might feel like you're at Chili's. The place seems geared toward up-selling you than creating a great dining experience, resulting in overpriced average food and service.
The first time I went, they made a substitution on my wife's entree without asking (they didn't realize it was something she was very excited about). It turns out they were out of it, and rather than letting us know, just went ahead with something else! They apologized profusely and offered us complementary french press (great coffee, btw), but not the kind of service I would have expected. I have on both accounts been impressed by the desserts - the creme brulee is great and the tres leches is unlike any tres leches I've ever had - excellent. But, overall, appetizers were good but *tiny*, entrees bland (how can you mess up seared Ahi tuna?!).
This time they were out of Oysters. I understand running out of things, but when you're a seafood restaurant with 1/4 of the menu devoted to oysters and an oyster bar and charging such a premium for them - pulease...! Still, $30 for the appetizer where they substituted 3 shrimp for every 4 oysters. I had the clam chowder which was very good - smokey and rich.
I think overall the table was pleased, but certainly it was below expectations. I will not be back for a while... if you're in the mood for a great seafood/dining experience, look elsewhere..
- Pros: tres leches, creme brulee, coffee, and dog fish head on tap
- Cons: very spotty with food and service (on 2 separate occasions)
Worst restaurant experience in United States

My husband, friends and I are major foodies.. we try out at least a new restaurant every week, be it in Phoenix where we are from, or be it where ever we are visiting... So the president's day weekend, we were in Texas and what would you love to do on a Sat night.. be at the river walk... We were hungry for some good quality sea food and our boat ride guide and a few others suggested we try Pesca on the river..
We really don?t mind paying the money if the ambience and food are just average... but we all being from the service industry, we really value good service... and our experience was far from pleasant..
No on attended us until we actually walked into the restaurant and asked to be attended. Once they did attend us, they gave us a table in a cold corner of the patio, far from the rest of the guests, where the patio heaters didn?t work, even though they had plenty of tables open and available. When 4 of us requested a bigger table, they said we could have a bigger table ONLY if we were more than 4... result.. we did not eat there... one of my friends who?s the coolest human (who never loses it) actually said sarcastically... thank u for your hospitality before we left...
We don?t know:
- if we were treated in that manner because we are Indians
- if we were treated in that manner because we had no grey hair
- if they thought we had no bucks to spare...
- if they thought we wouldn?t tip..
- if they treat everyone this way cos most of the river walk visitors are tourists and they don?t expect us back
- if they thought we were UGLY
I just could write on... but I think anyone that wants a pleasant restaurant experience shouldn?t visit here... or actually, maybe you MUST go there and you must write too.. about them and about their hospitality...
