The Best!

by mom05080911 at Citysearch

I feel obligated to write a review after seeing the negative ones. We have been going to Dr. Donnel for three years and he is amazing. Every time we go in for a well check he takes his time with the appointment. I never feel rushed in the least. I am constantly asked if I have any questions or concerns, we have a conversation about my child and it's just everything that I never thought a doctor would be. Sure, he is very cautious, but as a mother of four, how can I want anything less for my children?! We have experienced terrible wait times before, but the most recent time that happened was over a year ago and the doctor felt terrible for it and apologized profusely. Honestly, I enjoy the fact that he makes sure to take his time with me and I am sure he does the same for his other patients. I don't usually mind waiting and if you want a doctor that doesn't care and rushes you in and out as quickly as possible then perhaps this is not the office for you (I have been to those offices and I would take this one any day!) To avoid the waiting issues I schedule my appointments before 11am. I have never had to wait at all when I go before that time. If you are looking for a great doctor you have found him. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Donnel.

Terrible Wait Time - Terrible Service

by SCortez at Citysearch

RUDE - RUDE - RUDE

Several years ago (I believe 2008 and 2009) I walked out of this office due to wait time. I was moved from the waiting room after an eternity and then waited just as long in the back room to see the doctor. On one occasion my child was crying and asking me to just take her home because we had waiting so long. I walked out and took her to the MedClinic down the street. Fast forward to 2010 and I was told things had improved so I made an appointment for my daughter in March of this year. She was seen within a reasonable time frame and I was pleased thinking that their customer service was better. I called the office today (8 months after our last appointment) and was told someone would call me back. I waited about 2 hours and called again only to be told that someone tried to call me -mind you I have two cells and a work phone and I have NO messages on any of my phones. After being placed on hold I was then told, "Your child has been terminated." When I asked what they meant I was put on hold again and another person told me that two years ago I wrote a letter about their service and I had walked out of two appointments so the doctor terminated my service. I asked the employee to verify that my daughter was seen in 2010. What do you know - she was seen in March 2010!! They terminated my daughter after March 2010 --more than a year after I wrote to the doctor explaining the TERRIBLE service I had received. I explained to the employee today that the crummy customer service was on their part and not mine! The employee was a little dumb founded and couldn't explain how they could use the letter I wrote and me walking out of two appointments so long ago as the reason for "terminating" my daughter when they saw her in 2010!!! Lousy service once again! The doctor is rude to think that only his time is important. I'd like to see the doctor wait two hours for a patient and see how gracious he is or have his sick child crying, begging him to take her home because she feels so awful and can't lay on the table anymore. Walking out after well OVER AN HOUR shouldn't be considered poor behavior on my part but rather terrible service on theirs. This office has permanently lost a customer and if they continue with this terrible service I'm sure they'll continue to lose more!

overly cautious doctor, long wait times,

by Melsky3 at Citysearch

God forbid you mention something and even answer your own question! You will be billed for an office visit instead of a well check just because you may have said, "I didn't bring him in for this cold because I knew there was nothing that could be done about it" cha ching, they are going to bill you for that comment. Also very overly cautious, if your child has a mosquito bite, a red flag will be raised. Had to wait an hour and half just to get the flu vaccine. They had no appointments for well checks until a month out. There is no real separation between well and sick children. Rude staff. I'm changing doctors after being on a downhill ride for the last two years. Very disappointed

  • Pros: good circumsion
  • Cons: long wait times, cant book well visit for a month, billing

Ridiculous staff

by DFM at Citysearch

I expect great customer service whenever I step into a pediatricians office. I've been to other offices with great staff and this is not one of them. The pediatricians are great, they take thier time with the patient, cover all steps needed to improve conditions in easy to understand doctor lingo. Today, a clipboard was literally thrown to me so I could update demographics, then come to find out, there are no available flu shots, after being told 2 days prior that the vaccine would be available if we made appointment at that time. THEN, they wanted to charge a copay for the H1N1 shot, when my plans covers all cost, vaccine and administrative fees 100%. This staff member told me that she is going by what the insurance told her, I requested she speak to the rep. I was talking to and she outright refused. Needless to say, after the way I was treated, I left, without my son getting his shot. I called later and spoke to a "supervisor" after being told that there was none, but I was being persistant. This woman didn't want to hear me out. Kept interrupting me, doubting the poor customer service given, and once I asked her why she was a supervisor if she wasn't willing to hear what happened, she got defensive and said " I am ending this phone call" and hung-up. Are you serious? DON'T GO THERE, there are plenty of good Pediatricians in the area, where the service is much better. I have given this place 1 too many opportunities and today was the icing on the cake. I ended up getting my son a shot last minute at my daughters pediatricians office, only after hearing of my situtation at other office, they felt terrible. And it was cost free!...I'm kinda thinking that this office is scheming patients. I'm thinking that they booked the appt to get me in there knowing they had the H1N1 shot, but not the seasonal flu shot, knowing that would be a seperate appt, therefore....2 copays? Hmm...this isn't over yet until I speak to one of the doctors. I am sure they wouldn't be happy with this service.

  • Pros: Good Pediatrician
  • Cons: Poor Customer Service

More Trouble than they are Worth

by slake2000 at Citysearch

From the first visit, when we moved 1+ yrs ago, I was sized up to see how many office visits they could get from me. My son takes medicine that without it he doesn't function. This requires an annual visit and a script picked up once a month. The monthly scripts have been a nightmare because they have repeatedly let my son run out even though I call 7+ days in advance. The final straw came when I had follow up behind them AGAIN and was told that they had to see him before they would write his script. I don’t respond well to my child's health being held for ransom so they can charge for an extra visit. He had been in for his annual visit 6 months ago. They said that didn’t count because they didn’t do the physical. My response was why didn't the doctor do whatever he had to do and why wasn’t I called about the problem with his script? Got their stock excuse of wrong phone# written down. They decided they would write the script if I set up an appt. Fine. Done right then. Late that night the nurse left a message saying they were not going to write him a script unless he set up an appointment. The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing with these people. If this was the first time I would have been ok but it has just been one long screw up with them.

If you want a doctor for your child that truly cares about your child's health over lining their own pockets, keeps accurate health records for decisions or you have a child that needs anything over medicine for a basic sniffle or vaccination then these people are not for you.

If you like having to take off work to make multiple visits when one is sufficient, like having to constantly chase behind their staff to get them to do their job, like the drama of constant screw ups, like sitting in a waiting room (might be 30 minutes but could just as easily be an hour or more), like the feeling of your child's health being used to strong arm you, like being talked to in a condescending manner then call these people.

  • Pros: They get it right sometimes
  • Cons: Unnecessary Visits & Horrible Staff
