Best Turkish/Mediterranean Restaurant in town!!!. Best Turkish/Mediterranean Restaurant in town!!!

We have been there as a friend advised for real turkish food couple weeks ago. Our favorite "guvec" meals and appetizers are the lebni, humus and of course pita bread was delicious. Honestly, I strongly advice to try it! I think Turquoise Grill has the best Mediterranean restaurant in San Antonio. It is not cheap, of course, but delicious!

Really wanted to love it, but.... Just can't bring myself to only give it 2 stars although "Sorta Good" actually is a better description. I thought everything was underseasoned. I don't have any experience with Turkish food, but when I think of Turkey I think "Spice Market". Everything, including the Pita was a little bland. I had the Chicken Tava, which was OK but tasted a little like it had a Campbells Tomato soup base. Daughter had Doner Kebab (Lamb and beef) which was also OK, but underseasoned (to me). Wife had Kofte Kebab, which was the best of three, but still not fantastic. Kind of like a beef and lamb patty sausage. Anyway, it was pretty good. No liquor but they will let you bring your own wine. Ambiance looks like the best they could manage on a limited budget. Not terrible, but certainly not very nice. (I could have really done without the tacky slide projector throwing images of Turkey (I guess) on the wall).

Still, for all the negatives I said above, It was not a bad experience. We were just expecting more. It is a good value and the people couldn't be nicer. I hope they make it. It is a tough business and they've obviously poured everything they have into it. Really impressive web presence set high expectations.

Great restaurant. Went there on a Friday night, the place was hopping, but service was still good. Best of all though was the food, really unique in San Antonio. Prices weren't bad either.

Best lamb, best baklava, best humus....could go on and on. This restaurant is great. This was my first experience with Turkish food and is is just wonderful. Great lamb and great homemade baklava. Owner is very helpful and friendly. Try the red lentil soup--what? you say--lentil soup???? it is so good you'll wonder why it never crossed your mind to eat red lentil soup before! Though they have vegetarian dishes this is not a vegetarian restaurant. Plenty of succulent grilled meat on the menu.
