Burnt Pizza. I bought a small pizza with ALL the veggies, and when I got it home the pizza was burnt on the bottom. I returned it and they asked me if I wanted an other pizza. I Said He## yeah! They made me another pizza. When I got the new pizza home, the crust was not burnt but over cooked and dry. Also I could hardly find any cheese on the pizza. I paid over $20 f or this 12" pizza. I should have at least gotten some cheese on it. The pizza was fair at best but customer service was bad. I barely got a "sorry about that" as I was walking out the door. Not some place that I would want to go back to.
HORRIBLE EMPLOYEES. Ive been coming here for years despite the rude employees, I can't stand going in to pick up my pizza, every time I go in I leave upset due to the rudeness. I just went on Dec 27,2009 and not only was the waitstaff rude but the pizza, which I spent 50 bucks on for 2 pizzas was NOT good at all, that was the final straw. NO MORE GOOMBAS FOR ME!!!! I'll go where my service is wanted. evidently this owner must not need any more money.Just to let you know, I also have a very big mouth, I WILL tell everyone I know!!!
We live on the other side of town and are surrounded by pizza shops and Italian restaurants, but we will go to Goomba's for our pizza. The lunch crowd is testimony to the great food. I must admit the service can be improved and can be slow at times, but we feel it is worth the wait. I have noticed that things run more smoothly when Rick is around to supervise, but I think the young staff is overwhelmed during the lunch hours. We were there on a Sunday some months ago when there was a big mess of food and drink spilled all over the floor and no one would clean it.. There were very few people in the restaurant so the staff was not busy. Customers going up for refills had to walk around it. My concern was if anyone slipped and was injured Rick would be in trouble. About an hour later a young man came in for his shift and they sent him to clean up the mess. I finally figured out why no one else would clean it up earlier. They were waiting for him to do the dirty work, yet taking the chance of someone slipping and getting injured.
My one thought was for the reputation of the restaurant which we just love to frequent.
The pizza is the best in town and the portions are very generous. The wings are awesom. Rick takes pride in his food and customer service. The staff has to feel the same way so as not to tarnish Goomba's reputation.
We will continue to go out of our way to eat at Goomba's and recommend it to our friends.
Note to staff: Please don't let us down. I have read some of the harsh reviews about rudeness and I have never experienced any staff member being rude. I almost thought I was reading about a different restaurant.
GOOMBA'S IS STILL THE BEST IN TOWN FOR PIZZA!!!
Horrible service, horrible food. My wife and I went here because we had a coupon. We looked at the menu in the entrance lobby for a few minutes before an angry-sounding female cashier screamed at us informing that there were menus inside. At this point we should have left, but decided to stay. We went to the front counter, ordered baked ziti and sausage & peppers with side salads and 1 drink, and sat down at 12:50PM. At 1:20pm, our salads were ready--and served on flimsy paper plates. The lettuce was browning and the ranch dressing smelled questionable. At 1:30 my wife said, "They've got 5 minutes before we ask for a refund." At 1:33 they called our number. My wife's meal was in a cracked bowl and tasted like a frozen dinner from the store. Mine had burned, crunchy pasta and tomato sauce that tasted like it was straight out of a can served luke warm. We were thankful that we only got one drink because all of the sodas tasted watered down, all the regular ones tasted like their diet counterparts. We left at 1:50PM very dissatisfied and thankful to get away from the horde of flies that inhabited the restaurant, one of which landed on my head numerous times, coming very close to landing on the food as well. Did I mention there was a man cleaning the outside of the window by our table while we were eating? We watched one woman who ordered to-go complaining that her order was wrong for over 10 minutes until they got it right. There was soda spilled all over the floor without any wet floor sign. They wasted no time in cleaning up after us however, as when I turned around after getting a soda refill before leaving, I saw our table was spotless. We will definitely NOT be going back to "Goomba's" again. A frozen Italian dinner from the store will suffice.
Great at Lunch Service missing at Night. I went on a Sunday night with my wife and son. My wife had been their for lunch before and said it was Great. Well they must change evrybody out at night that works there. We arrived and waited behind one person to order and it took 10 min to have order taken. Cashier would walk off then return to take orders. I ordered meatball sub., son ordered Pizza, my wife ordered Canoloni. Wife had her food set on counter and get cold before we got it. They had called order number , but cashier kept portion of receipt with number on it. Thn my son's pizza came out at which point I walked up and asked if that might be my order. It was but without the sub. Girl working counter could have carried less about getting food out to customers, it was not that busy for her to carry it to the three tables that had people without food setting at them. I waited another 35 min for my sub only to get it with one end having burnt bread and meatballs. I did not have another 45 mins to wait. The place only had 20 people in it atmost with at least 6 people working. We asked for red pepper ad was informed that they had run out and had now at all not even in the little packages. It may be great at lunch, but it is the place to avoid for dinner. My son did like his pizza and my wife said her food was OK getting it hot would have been better. I willl order a Subway Meatball Sub before I eat here again.
Yummy pizza, sometimes slow service - great for take out. Really good pizza - the Greek and Spinach/Ricotta are our favorites. The ingredients are of a much higher quality than most other pizza places - that is what keeps us coming back. The service in the restaurant can sometimes be a bit slow when it is busy. Overall, we really like it and would recommend it.
Great pasta, gooey pizza, strip mall ambiance.. Goomba's is a place where the food is so good, I ignore the crowds and the lousy ambiance to eat there at least once a week. It's not the cleanest Italian restaurant I know, nor is the service the best. (You order at a counter and pick up your meal at the window so "service" is largely nonexistent there.) But the pizza! The pasta! The pizza is so good, folks finish even the crusts (dipping them in the delicious, homemade ranch dressing, which is why Goomba's now charges for extra ranch.) The side salad, adorned with chickpeas and mozarella and tomato and a pepper, is consistently fresh and crisp. But the hidden treasure here is the pasta; the daily lunch specials (with beverage and salad!) go for under six dollars, and they go fast. The pizza slices feed two. And the children eat free in the evenings, which accounts for Goomba's large following of families. My only complaint, besides the consistently-dirty bathrooms, is that there rarely if ever seems to be any adult management onsite? but the fantastic food this youthful staff puts out makes it well worth it. Highly recommended!!
NY Style Pizza.
I work close by Goomba's and I like to get the lunch special 1 slice of pizza, salad and a drink all under $6.
It does get busy and sometimes the service is slow--but I haven't had a real issue with it. Maybe about 1/4 of time its too slow. Try a slice of sausage and pepperoni pizza. they make their own ranch dressing--which goes well with the pizza. If you go to Goomba's website--you can get free coupons for their food or you can use the entertainment book coupon over and over again.By the way==this is greasy pizza--I think it is hard to not make pizza greasy-but do what I do--get a few napkins to absorb some of the grease and try to feel less guilty about eating that delicious slice of pie.
Good pizza, bad pasta. We went for an early dinner on a weeknite. We ordered a couple of pizza slices, salad, & a pasta. The salad did come first & was your average salad, the pizza & pasta arrived next. The pizza is good here but it was only lukewarm, as if it were warmed up as an afterthought. I recommend ordering a full size pie for maxium flavor, it is afterall good pizza. On the other hand the pasta was downright terrible. The sauce tasted like plain, ol' canned tomato sauce that was poured out of a can at the last minute, really. I tried putting s&p, red peppers & parm on it for some flavor, ddn't work. I don't see how they had the pride to serve that to paying customers. There is way too many unruly kids here too. We only get it to go now. If we bother with this place at all.
We arrived and placed an order for a large pizza, pasta , and a couple of slices of pizza, and drinks at 5:55 P.M. on Sept 5, 2008. Fifteen minutes later, my husband went up to see where my salad was. Ten minutes later, we received the slices and pasta. a couple of minutes later, we received the salad. At 6:45 P.M. we finally received the large pizzza, after all of the rest of us were finished.
We have been to this place a few times and each time, the service gets worse. We won't be going back. We will find another place to eat pizza and pasta.
