Great Place for Grandma. We went to Chango's last night to meet a couple who recommended the place. It's not a far drive if you live north of 410, but it's far enough to where they couldn't possibly charge a cover in order to lure people out... or so one would think. It's a BAR all the way out in BOERNE and, much to my chagrin, I had to fork over $5 to get in... and I had a date! Honestly, they should have paid me for bringing in a pre-menopausal female. The place was packed and the music was loud, but the crowd wasn't great. If you're looking for cougars, stick to the Stone Oak area; this seemed like a lot of older married couples, which I wasn't really expecting, especially from the friends we were meeting. Drinks were expensive and very, very watered down. The waitress even charged me for top-shelf when I didn't ask for it by name (bad idea), so I was surprised to find that the cigars were moderately priced... however, the girl selling them cut at least a half inch off the end, with what must have been a dull blade, so they started to unravel after a few minutes. The band was good, but they were only playing stuff from the 70s (Barry White, no joke), which was surprising and fitting at the same time: surprising because it was a Saturday night, but fitting because half the crowd probably owned those vinyl-records when they were in college 30yrs ago. It wasn?t too smoky and they had a large patio that could be fun in the summer. If you?re in the area, it?s worth a visit to check out the art and maybe have a drink, but I probably won?t be back.
