Still Looking for Authentic Chinese Cuisine in S.A.. Just had lunch here today. We ordered two dishes from the "authentic" Chinese menu rather than the less expensive lunch menu. The $11 duck with baby bok choy was disappointing. It came with a typical brown sugary sauce. The duck was chewy and tough. It would have been better served as crispy and well done. The sauce was noticeably salty. The second dish consisted of a sweet sauce with vegetables and sliced fish. The fish was served in a thick tough and chewy batter. It was difficult to find any fish inside the batter. For $16 is was exceedingly disappointing. I am not trying to single out Kim Wah but it is difficult to find "authentic" Chinese food in San Antonio. If you go to Austin you will be delighted at how good the authentic Chinese restaurants are, located mainly on north Lamar in the Asian shopping mall. If you've ever eaten in Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles or San Gabriel, Ca., you will realize just how wonderful true "authentic" Chinese cuisine can be. On the plus side, the service was good as well as the ice tea. Sorry Kim Wah! I hope to someday see real authentic Chinese restaurants come to our city.

Bad Food, Long Wait, and Poor Service. Extremely poor and slow service and quality of food. Taste of food was bland and sub-par.. definitely not worth the 40 minutes it took to deliver the first dish and then another 30 minutes for the second dish.

I would definitely recommend other Chinese eating places in San Antonio before this place. Everyone at our table had a poor dining (between extremely slow service and poor food quality) experience at this terrible resteraunt.

Chinese food served at the local Valero's gas station would have been better.

Ordered the salty fish with egg plant, there was very little fish in the dish. Other person at the table ordered soup with noodles. The noodles were not cooked completely and he said had bad taste. We waited and waited for them to take the order. Then we waited 40 minutes for the first dishes to be served and another 30 minutes for the second main dishes to be served. This type of service is inexcusable. Not to mention after waiting so long, the food was DEFINITELY NOT worth the wait.

Please consider other resteraunts before this one.

Kim Wah - would be better named "Kim WAIT"

best chinese food in san antonio. I lived in San Antonio for 2 years. It wasn't until after the first year that I was able to find some good Chinese food. I am Chinese, and my dad is a chef. I'm really picky, so I was thrilled to find a place like this. It's not American Chinese food at all. It's completely authentic. My favorite dishes are Spicy peppered squid, chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, peking duck, ma po tofu, singapore rice noodles, and well pretty much everything is good.

Bad experience at a great restaurant. Hi everyone, I ate at Kim Wah Chinese BBQ yesterday for the first time due to high recommendations. I ordered the well known Peking Duck and was enjoying the meal until I took a bite into the stir fried bones which tasted amazing. However, as I was chewing, I had to stop because I felt something awkward in my mouth. I pulled it out slowly and discovered that it was human hair. I immediately brought it to the attention of the waiter, who turned out to be the owner. He assumed that the reason that we brought it to his attention was that we couldn't pay, which was not an issue at all. He never apologized, got angry instead , aggressively snatched the payment out of our hand and continued to act completely unprofessional. Its sad to see such a great restaurant is being lead by such an unprofessional individual.

Most-Chinese Chinese Restaurant. You may not be very used to the food here, but in my opinion this is the most-Chinese Chinese restaurant I can find in the northwest part of San Antonio. Unlike typical US-style Chinese restaurants you can find everywhere, the food here tastes very close to what I could have in a common inexpensive restaurant in my neighborhood in Taiwan. Most guests are asians.
