I would recommend Kona Grill to anyone and everyone!
by bianca1819
I went to Kona Grill for my 38th birthday on January 29th...we had reservations at 8:30pm...got there at 8:15pm and were seated within 5 minutes. Our waiter immediately came to our table, got down to below our eye level...something that made me feel immediately welcomed and gave us his full attention....he made excellent food suggestions starting with the appetizers all the way down to our drinks...we started out with sushi...it was amazing...the flavors were incredible....we also tried the avocado egg rolls and the potstickers as appetizers and were immediately impressed with the fact that everything we had so far was outstanding...our entrees came...we ordered two entrees..the Sweet-Chili Glazed Salmon and the Macadamia Nut Chicken...there are no words to describe just how delicious our food was...we could not stop talking about it....during all this, our waiter came by several times to make sure we were enjoying our meal...another gentleman who appeared to be maybe the restaurant manager also came by to make sure we had everything we needed...everyone was so attentive...I was sipping on a raspberry martini...something that I normally would not care for but it was suggested by our waiter...I actually ordered three of them by the end of our meal...they were that amazing! This was the best birthday meal I have ever had. Our waiter made it an amazing experience. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a fantastic meal and excellent service.
- Pros: Excellent location, attentive wait staff, excellent chefs, easy to make reservations.
- Cons: I can't eat there three times a day 7 days a week.
LONG WAIT, BAD SERVICE, POOR MANAGEMENT ATTITUDE, NO ORGANIZATION
by LClayton
We visited this restaurant very often, and at first it was terrific, but it has really lost it's luster. I have no complaints about the quality of the food, it is the wait staff, the management's attitude and the lack of organization. If you want to go for a quick meal, forget it! If you want to plan ahead, forget it. Either way, we may get seated in an hour or hour and a half. While waiting, forget getting a cocktail or appetizer, the bar is so packed you cannot move, and there is usually 1 bartender during the day and two at night for the entire restaurant, and they cannot keep up. They will not get to you if you are not sitting right in front of them. The wait staff are snotty, young kids who feel you should be happy to be in their presence (with the exception of two waiters we know). The drinks usually come out right as you get your meal, so if you have been waiting awhile--you are parched! The Expresso or Cappicino machine is never in service. If you complain about anything to management, they do not seem like it is a big deal. I have had it with them. NEVER WILL RETURN.
- Pros: Sushi is always fresh and well prepared
- Cons: The wait is not worth the attitude you get from wait staff and management.
Red Flad - dont eat here
by bzriver
The restaurant is billed as fine dining, but the atmosphere is that of a cheap night club or meat market.
Do not bother making a reservation - they will have a record of it when you arrive.
Our dinner actually arrived before our drinks. That is not to say that the bartender took an unusual amount of time to fill our drink orders. Rather, the food came out within 7 or 8 minutes. That may not be a red flag to the younger crowd, but anyone that knows fine dining, or has ever cooked a chicken breast or piece of halibut for that matter, knows that it takes longer than that to prepare.
Even the banana pudding we ordered was watery and most obviously reheated from a frozen state. It did not taste good at all. Between three people, we could not finish it.
The signature dish, the Macadamia Nut chicken was pitiful. It is obviously not fresh, the meat was dry, and had little flavor. The creamy sauce was too thick and tasteless, and the mashed potatoes tasted as if they were instant.
Two thumbs way down.
- Pros: none
- Cons: everything
