Tips for Iron Cactus Mexican Grill

Iron Cactus is pretty pricey but I guess that should be expected on the riverwalk. I wasn't very pleased with my entree but a bite of my friends Rosemary Chicken was pretty tatsty. The mixed drinks and margs are delicious but again are pretty highly priced. I;m not really planning on going again unless it is with friends for drinks every once in a while.

Great food and a GREAT party!. Iron Cactus is our favorite place to eat while in San Antonio, so I decided to have my husband's 40th birthday party in the Agave room. The service I received during the planning and the evening of the party was PERFECT! I could not have asked for more! We had a DJ and a slide show in the background and the room was the perfect size for a dance floor without giving up room to eat. FANTASTIC! Thank you Iron Cactus for a fantastic event! Thank you Rhyann for all my last minute request and your flexibility to handle them!

Shockingly poor customer service to locals!. Exceedingly poor customer service. Attended banquet 09.01.2011. Group paid over $2K. Ran out of food with about 30% of the group left (including me & husband)! Iron Cactus demanded over $500 to bring out more food. They acquiesced and managed to bring out another tray of rice & veggies. So that's what we ate.

With 90 minutes left to go and a room of paying customers, they added insult to injury and closed the bar in the banquet room! Thirsty (and still HUNGRY) patrons had to leave the banquet room, go across to the restaurant's bar to purchase drinks.

Wow! Slap in the face. Would NEVER consider patronizing this biz under any circumstances.

P.S. The cold rice honestly wasn't that tasty... just sayin'...

Good Margarita; not good food. We were there on a Thursday evening during Fiesta 2011. There was a 20 minute wait for an outdoor table, but no wait to eat at the indoor bar. Indoors, our margarita was EXCELLENT!. Sadly, the service was slow, and the food was boring and tasteless. While I would try this restaurant again for the margaritas, I would eat somewhere else. Very convenient for the Riverboat ride

My favorite place on the Riverwalk. The Iron Cactus is a classy-looking Mexican restaurant at the far end of the Riverwalk. Nice outdoor seating area, and the inside is nicely decorated and feels very swank. The food is always very good--I've had the traditional Mexican food, fish, and even a meatloaf with chorizo and have never been disappointed in the quality. And the prices are very reasonable considering the atmosphere. The have a great happy hour--$3 margaritas, beer, and well drinks, and a large margarita called a "Mexican martini" for $5. If you like tequila and margaritas, this is the place to be. They have an extensive list of tequilas and even have various flights where you can try 3 different tequilas at a time. Great service, great food, great atmosphere, and great tequila make this my favorite restaurant when I visit San Antonio.

Great Riverwalk Experience. We recently held a client event at Iron Cactus. It was a very good experience. The management team was exceptional in all planning aspects and particularly helpful as we were making last minute adjustments. The restaurant was very accommodating and truly cared about getting things right. The food was very good and priced reasonably. The servers were also exceptional. highly recommend!!

Great place on the River Walk. The Iron Cactus on the River Walk is delicious, fun, and a great place to take a date or a large group of friends. I know this because I have done both. I reccomend the fajitas, steak encheladas, and all of the margaritas. Just be careful about what tequilla you want in your margarita, the price goes up fast.

Much Improved. I read some of the other reviews and have to say that the Iron Cactus has much improved since it first opened. The last time I went the service was perfect. My tea never went less than half empty. The fajitas were tasty and the mexican martinis were delicious. Our waiter was extremely attentive(maybe the reviews helped them hire some better servers). I always enjoy my time at the Cactus.
