Nice change at first, same old story in the end.
While it is nice to see a different chain restaurant arriving in SA, the fact remains that it is still a chain. Founded in Washington in the 1940s, Red Robin distinguishes itself by offering "gourmet" burgers. It's $8 hamburgers offer a welcome change of taste for the crowd that frequents Chili's and Bennigan's. In the end, it's just another big corporation trying to turn San Antonio into Anytown, USA. And the burgers don't even compare to local favorites such as Chester's and Chris Madrid's.
My recommendation: travel down I10 a few miles to Wurzbach and eat at Chester's. If you've got a movie to catch at the Paladium, this isn't your best bet, the wait can be up to 30 minutes from when you sit down.
