Editorial Review for Minneapolis Farmers' Market – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Early spring finds the market filled with an array of plants and flowers. As the summer season kicks in, the market offers every variety of fruit, vegetable and blooming flower you could want. Come late August, it proclaims the season's bounty in endless rows of fresh, Minnesota-grown produce. The place takes on an almost carnival-like atmosphere on the weekends, complete with Peruvian music, arts and crafts vendors and more food vendors than on the weekdays.

Insider Tips

When to Go

To get a real feel for the life of the farmers' market you need to arrive early--like 5:30am--and mingle with the owners and chefs of the best restaurants. Observe how they plan their menus based on what the market has to offer that day.

Parking

There's always free parking under the I-94 bridge. On Saturdays and Sundays, customers may park in the lots reserved for some Border Avenue businesses. Look for signs that say "Free Market Parking."

User Reviews for Minneapolis Farmers' Market

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

09/16/2002 Posted by IIII

The Saturday morning Farmers' Market is a blast. I love the fresh produce (even if it is cheaper at the grocery store sometimes), I love the flowers (i only wish someone had orchids down there), I love the arts and crafts (inexpensive trinkets, and thrift oddities abound), I love the people watching (nothing beats watching a dad try and cram a loaded Chicago style hotdog down a toddler's throat), and the atmosphere is fun. Personal favorites are the guys selling bulk tamales, the Wisconsin Honey Guy, the olive bar, and the soap makers...all in the middle paddock.

Pros: Flowers, Fresh everything

Cons: Crowded?
