Disappointed with Clear WiMax.
I am very disappointed so far with Clear WiMax. I went to a retail outlet at a mall near me and got lots of guarantees about how fast the service was and even saw on a google earth map what the coverage was at my house and it looked awesome.
After hooking it up and moving it around to every room in the house, I can barely get 1 bar on the modem and get no signal on the USB mobile antenna. Download speed tests reports 750 KBPS from the modem, not the 6 MBPS I am paying for. It's slower then my cable modem.
I promptly called customer service and had a less than stellar experience. They told me that because there are a lot of trees around me that is probably the problem. Trees? Really?
Excellent for Internet Service. Clear is an excellent option for providing broadband Internet service at home or away from home. I'm using the home version of the Clear modem as I write this, and have been very happy with the quality of the service and extreme ease of setup…I used the mobile connection in several locations across the Las Vegas Valley, including an area in the farthest southeast corner. The signal was consistently strong, with speeds at 4 megabits per second and higher. I watched online video and uploaded pictures to photo sharing sites easily.
3G internet speed. When it comes to maximum download speeds, Clear blows conventional 3G Internet service out of the water. The 3.0 Mbps benchmark speeds and 350 Kbps we managed to pull with torrent files in areas of excellent signal trump anything you can do with a piddly 3G card.
ROCKS!!!. I just wanted to let you know how much your customer service ROCKS!!! Thanks and keep up the good job. Thanks.
instant connectivity. My Clear Motorola Home CPE arrived by FEDEX today. I plugged it in and within 3 minutes I had 5 bars. I connected my iMac to the modem and had instant connectivity. My first SpeedTest came in at 11.25Mbps download and 1.02 upload. Latency however was over 200. I connected the modem to my old WR850g router and after updating the firmware I had great connectivity. Speeds have averaged around 10Mbps throughout the afternoon and evening. The lowest speed I've seen was 6.8. Hope the clear internet service continues.
it follows you. Clear internet service great for online gaming. And if you have Clear Personal Hotspot router, you can play while riding in the car or train or bus for that matter. The wifi hotspot follows you! Welcome to 4G! Pretty cool stuff!
The internet connection is off more than not. Clear Internet sux major a$$ it's not worth it. The internet connection is off more than not. I hate it you can be right in the middle of something online and it just shuts off. I am a big COD: Modern Warfare 2 player and everytime I'm winning it just shuts off. Again it's not connected more often than it is connected. Do not waste your time or money I'm heading back to Time Warner ASAP.
I have been more than satisfied with CLEAR service. Clear Internet is awesome! I've had it since it first came out and I have been more than satisfied with the service. I run and E-commerce business and I have never had a faster mobile Internet, I can work from anywhere within the city!

highspeed internet was not available. A couple of years ago I used Clearwire for personal use since highspeed internet was not available in the area surround Killeen. The coverage and speeds were good at the time and comparable to DSL and cable. However, their business practices regarding contracts were horrendous.
