Historic lodging referred to as "San Antonio's Little Jewel.".
The Scene
This hotel is rife with notable attributes. The actual building came to the world's attention in 1986 when it earned a place in the "Guinness Book of World Records" for being the heaviest structure ever moved--it took six days to transport this 3.2-million-pound property to its current home. The workers moved it literally inch by inch. As for the land it sits on, when crews excavated to make room for the basement, they found artifacts from the battle of The Alamo. This earned the site a State Archaeological Landmark designation. The hotel is an excellent base for sightseers, being just four blocks from the River Walk and six from The Alamo.
The Details
Guest rooms maintain the historic atmosphere while making concessions to the needs of modern travelers. You will find data ports, VCRs, coffeemakers and even shower massagers. The on-site Polo's Restaurant and Bar serves continental cuisine with a unique Southwestern flair. Room service is available round-the-clock.
