Editorial Review for Jackson Diner – by Paul Adams
In Short
This spacious Indian restaurant in Queens' Jackson Heights enjoys great popularity among natives and non-natives alike, and not just because it's right by the subway: its welcoming, colorful main dining room is the focus of many pilgrimages to Queens from Manhattan. Items like spicy masala dosa, a host of lamb and goat entrees, and fried appetizers like samosas and pakoras are complemented by milder southern Indian dishes and refreshing lassis.

Wow, I had no idea that such a place existed until yesterday when my friends surprised me for my birthday. I loved the food. I never had Indian food before and always wanted to try it so my boyfriend and me friends surprised me with this restaurant. I had the masala dosa and the chicken makhani. I was not sure if it was going to be spicy, but to my surprise the waiter asked us how we wanted our food and their medium level was good. It wasn't spicy. Also, there are so many ethnic places to shop around on the block. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has never tried Indian food before.
Pros: Thumbs up

I was out with my girlfriend at this restaurant when I noticed the waiter taking the three dip sauce tray from one table to another table. It was clear that nothing was changed or removed from this tray. Furthermore, it appears that this is a common policy of this restaurant. I witnessed this "procedure" more than twice. We decided that we did not have the appetite for secondhand food and left the restaurant. I called the following day asking for a manager and got a rude response form one their employees. He began yelling and screaming at me about my complaint. It is clear that this restaurant has unsanitary practice. Please avoid this restaurant at any cost even if you are starving for Indian food.
Cons: Secondhand Food, need I say more.
