I have been to many of the fish stores in San Antonio, and keep coming back to South Seas Aquatics. For those of you that have been in the hobby for a while you know the importance of buying healthy livestock, and being able to buy with confidence. I have stocked several tanks from this store, and have had nothing but an awesome experience. All my fish are thriving and very healthy. This store understands the importance of keeping new fish quarantined, ensuring the fish are healthy and eating before selling them. This displays to me that they are not just trying to make money, and genuinely care about the fish as well as the customer.
Although the store is tucked away off Bandera Rd and Reindeer Trail it is well worth the visit. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The store has a wide selection of saltwater fish, invertebrates, coral, and live rock. The prices are great and even competitive compared to online. Bottom line in my humble opinion I will keep going to South Seas Aquatics as I feel they are the best LFS in town. Not to mention my hubby is a reef junkie and they have a nice selection of coral. ;)
I took a trip to Petco looking to buy the water that is used by the guys from the show Tanked on Animal Planet. In talking with the employee from Petco I found out the name of the seawater mix was called Nutri-SeaWater. I was told Petco does not carry the water, but there is one place in San Antonio that does. The Petco employee told me about South Seas Aquatics.
I decided to take a trip to South Seas Aquatics. I am glad that I decided to go. Upon walking in the store I was shocked by how clean the tanks were. The fish and coral looked incredible healthy and happy. After talking with the owner Gary, I found that he really knows his stuff, cares about his fish, and displayed amazing customer service. Gary explained to me that he always makes sure his fish are healthy and eating well otherwise he will not sell them. The store uses several quarantine tanks for new or unhealthy fish to ensure the fish are taken care of, and customers end up with healthy fish. Anyone that has a saltwater tank knows how important it is to be really picky when it comes to adding anything to a tank. It has been about a month since I first discovered this store, and have visited 20 other stores in San Antonio, and have found that South Seas Aquatics has the lowest prices. They carry a wide variety of saltwater fish, coral, live rock, live sand, and many other items that the hobbyist will need to maintain a fish only or a reef tank. I will continue to take my business to South Seas Aquatics as I love the low prices, great service, and great stock.
