Horrible food and service
by srathi at Citysearch
The food here is nothing like how Indian food is supposed to be. They use color instead of spices and everything is bland. The portions are small and unlike other restaurants, they don't serve rice with the vegetables. My husband and I are Indian and haven't had more unpalatable food before. The manager was extremely rude. A forced gratuity of 15% is added to the bill. We paid a huge sum, and left hungry and extremely disappointed. Please save yourself from this torture and try another place instead.
Rude service, nasty food

This place was ok; We drove out of our way to experience this "Indian Delight". When we arrived to the place, it's decor was outdated and there was no one there. We decided to go ahead and eat at the buffett, only to strongly disappointed. The food looked as if it were purchased in a frozen section, and reheated. The chicken was all dark meat chicken, which didn't satisify me at all. The kaboblooked like sweedish meatballs purchased, and reheated. I voiced my opinion to the guy in the front, and he was extremely rude with me and acted as if I had just dissed his whole family. I would def not go again, and would advise anyone else not to go either. I have eaten at Indian Cuisines from New York, to Detroit, to Miami, and this was definitly not homemade material!

Very good indian food and great service
by menrico at Citysearch
I'm originally from NYC and have enjoyed Indian food for many years. I feel that I have tasted great indian food to very mediocre. Simi's is very good indian food, the service is great, and management makes you feel very welcomed and treats you as if you are eating in their home.
For example, one time the manager came by my table and asked me and wife how our meals were and noticed that we were just about done with our rice and naan. He personally brought a fresh plate of rice and more naan at no cost.
My overall experience here has been very positive and I look forward to going back. I've already been there about 4 times and the quality of food and service has been very consistent.
I would highly recommend Simi's.
- Pros: Very good food at a reasonable price
- Cons: I wish I lived nearer
Wish I lived closer- I could eat there everyday!

I drive an hour and a half out of my way at least once a month to eat here. If on a date I highly recommend ordering one of the large sampler plates for two. All of there food is so excellent, if only Seguin had a indian restraunt I would be so happy.
- Pros: Wonderful service and food
- Cons: Too far from where I live
Julissa's Review is FALSE and UNFOUNDED!
by Kate2397 at Citysearch
I don't know what Julissa is talking about accusing Simi's owner Ambi of credit card fraud, but I find her accusation to be both unfounded and false. I have eaten at Simi's for the last 16 years, paying by credit card, and have NEVER had a single issue with it. I've never had my number compromised. And I have lots of friends and family who have frequented Simi's and paid by credit card without a single incident. I don't know what the motivation is on Julissa's part to post such absurd accusations, but they are completely unfounded and FALSE!
- Pros: Excellent Food and Service
credit card fraud
by Julissa at Citysearch
San Antonio police have a case registered against the owner of SIMI's Resturant owner in credit-card fraud. He have targeted as many as 1000 customers in a possible fraud scheme."I believe there's in excess of 1000 customers from SIMI's who have been victimized through this scheme to defraud. He obtain cards from customers and hey would then swipe the card to charge the customer's meal, then swipe it again through a credit card scanning device that saves the magnetic strip information.
- Pros: Be careful with your credit card
- Cons: owner is a con
BEST INDIAN FOOD!!
by DEEMAK at Citysearch
I have eaten here more than 5 times and every time it is always pleasant and delicious. The staff is wonderful, the owner always greets us and asks how our food is. The food is sooo good, I do not have one negative thing to say about this restaurant. I always take my family to this restaurant when they come down to visit and they just love it. I will continue to go here and recommend it to family and friends. Love it!!
Worst Indian Restaurant
by trinity29 at Citysearch
I have eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants both in India and many other places in the world. This place by far is the worst one EVER. The positive ratings are clearly by the people who are associated with the restaurant in some manner. We intended to have a full dinner with appetizer, entree and dessert. However, when the soup came, it was a warmed up canned soup. The manager even said if the soup tastes bad then we can add some black pepper to it and pointed at the pepper shaker. The seekh kabob I ordered were frozen Swedish meatballs with neither the quality of seekh or kabob to it.
My bf ordered chicken tikka masala which was just a reheated frozen dish. Whoever says that the CTM was to die for either never had real chicken tikka masala or they are being deceptive. The mango lassi was just a boxed Mango Fruti which game in a wine glass which was three-quarters filled with ice. Three sips and your mango lassi is gone for the mere price of $2.95.
By the time I took one bite of the Swedish meatball delicacy which was supposed to seekh kabobs, I realized that my stomach started to curse me for putting such offensive food in it. When we wanted the check, almost every food item we ordered were on the table with maybe one or two bites eaten. Neither the owner nor the manager came and asked if everything was ok. we didn't even want to box such awful food. When the bill came I found out that they had over charged us for some items. When we asked our waiter to bring an accurate bill he came back and tried to explain something in some language which wasn't English. I have nothing against people whose first language is not English. However, they do not make the best negotiator of incorrect bills when they cannot communicate. The manager came and yelled at us and told us that we should just subtract the difference from the total instead of giving us an accurate bill. The force you to pay a 15% tip because I suspect they won't be tipped otherwise. Please stay away.
- Pros: can be seated quickly since there is no one there
- Cons: canned and processed food, fraudulent billing, incompetent and rude service
Great Food, Excellent Service!!!...
by meppy76 at Citysearch
My family and I have gone to Simi's for almost every special occasion and we will continue to do so. I don't know what happened the night the person with the negative review wrote but Little India is not India. My family lived there and have had authentic Indian food and Simi's is by far, the best Indian food in San Antonio. My sister and her husband had tried a place in Austin and both said it paled in comparison. We have never received such special treatment or great service at any restaurant. Many many times the owner has thrown in free food with our meal. He knows every one of us by name and personally shakes everyone's hands and wants to know how everyone is doing. The Chicken Tika Masala, the naan, the samosas are all to die for. I can't get enough of that place. Give it a try if you ever get the chance.
- Pros: Great service, great food, great atmosphere
- Cons: Located in a strip mall, not too big and not the fanciest place but worth it...totally
