If you like Chi Chi's, then this is a decent choice. It's better then Chi Chi's because of it's location on Riverwalk. As a result of that, it's also more expensive than Chi Chi's . 'nuff said.

Pros: ummm, unoriginal

Cons: bland and expensive

Sorry to say that Zuni Grill has not improved a bit since the previous reviews were posted. My fiancé and I were recently in town for a friend's wedding and picked Zuni Grill to have brunch at before we left town on Sunday morning. It was one of the few "Mexican" restaurants open and I was hoping to find some decent migas (closest thing on menu was "San Antonio style eggs" which tasted like they were made with powdered eggs and onion salt). I did the brunch buffet and she had breakfast tacos. Her tacos were pretty much the same story as everything else on the buffet - very bland and greasy. As several other users have commented, the servers themselves were inept across the board and incapable of remembering simple requests despite being reminded several times. In hindsight, the restaurant is an obvious tourist trap whose sole goal is to turn tables and churn unwitting tourists in and out as fast as possible. Every other table around us had similar complaints as we watched them try to choke down their food and pay their bills (numerous "worst meal ever" comments and terse conversations with apathetic servers). Unfortunately Zuni Grill's location in one of the busiest areas of the riverwalk and sheer volume of tourists in the area makes it unlikely they will run out of first-time customers to rip off but hopefully this and other reviews will save at least a few people from making the same mistake we did. Our experience has also led me to question the credibility of Citysearch's entire rating system. The San Antonio editors should be ashamed of the 4.5 star rating they've bestowed.

Pros: View of riverwalk

Cons: Bad food, bad service, overpriced

I recently ate at the Zuni Grill on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The Atmosphere was great, my entree of Prime Rib was good. The service was slow and terrible. They started wiping the table around us as my party and I were sitting and visiting. My mixed drink was so watered down there I tasted no alcohol and it was $9.00. I switched to red wine. I asked two different waiters for my first drink and later asked two different waiters for my red wine. My bill alone was over $40.00 and that was way too much.

Pros: Atmosphere, Location

Cons: Service, Cost

My wife and I live here in San Antonio and decided to spend the weekend downtown on the River Walk. We stopped at Zuni, because I had been to an alumni function there before and it seemed ok. What can I say, the place was horrible. It took too long to get a waiter in a more than half-empty restaurant. Once we did get one, we saw him just three times. Once to take the order... and once to deliver the food. Once to re-fill our drinks. You may be wondering about the check... Well I will get to that in a minute. My wife and I tried to choke down some calamari that was surreal in size (half-an-inch-thick and seven inches long) and rubbery like a rubber chicken, and trying to tolerate grilled chicken enchiladas (the chicken tasted like it was from a can... yuck!) and grilled tilapia (a fish that cost $1.99 a pound and they charged us $10.95 for 6 ounces... and it had no flavor). This restaurant is a tourist trap and the one benefit we have of suffering through a miserable experience is that my wife and I can help out-of-towners avoid our mistake. I cannot believe it was rated a 9.0. on Citysearch. Avoid at all costs!!! About the check... After waiting a good 20 minutes for our waiter to show, I did some simple math and added some tax and left the money in cash on the table... I do believe the waiter received more in tip than he deserved... I think it was $2.75... enough to buy about a third of their cheapest margarita.

Cons: Service, Food

Wonderful "Cactus Margaritas". They are beautiful as well as flavorful, and highly potent! 2 will be plenty! We brought out of town guests to Zuni for the margaritas, and they were very impressed. The salsa and chips are good too. The food is not that terrific, small portioins and pricey. Just go for the 'ritas!

Pros: Riverwalk seating, Margaritas

Cons: Expensive

Excellent food and a good location. I had the smoked chicken enchilada and would have been satisfied just with the black beans that accompanied the dish. Obiviously not from a can! Downtstairs is a bit warm because the kitchen is there and the air conditioning needs to be improved.

Pros: food

Cons: poor a/c

We had dinner here on our trip this past weekend to San Antonio. The food was phenomenal. My grilled fish was cooked to perfection and served with rich herby mashed potatoes, and my husband's chicken enchiladas were smoky and spicy hot. We also had guavas margaritas which were fresh and delicious. We'll definitely visit this place again someday.

Pros: food, drinks, friendly

Cons: , a bit noisy

Very good menu and service for a quick weekday lunch on the riverwalk. Good menu diversity with lite to heavy fare. The portions were plentiful. Service seemed consistently good among surrounding tables. Their homemade salsa and chips were excellent. Highly recommend the prickly pear margarita if you can handle being seen with a pastel colored beverage.

I loved their salsa and had a fabulous, huge breakfast there one early morning that was enough for two. When I was nearby for a conference, we managed to eat there at least 3 times.

Pros: view, inexpensive

A little Southwestern spice on the Riverwalk.  See the full editorial review.
