By day, a respectable place for families and power lunches; by night, the last stop after bars and clubs close.

It is a beautiful place
by Pascal33
The place deserves a visit just in itself: its bar, its bakery etc... It is very well decorated and it creates just a nice atmosphere for having a good time with your friends/family. The food unfortunately is just "above average" and was a disappointment given the reputation of the place. Also very annoying is that the service is slow and of low quality. Finally, a lot of musicians are wandering between the table constantly asking if they can play a song for you, which becomes annoying after a while.
- Pros: beautiful room and nice atmosphere
- Cons: food quality and service
AMAZING!

perfect experience! hostess's were fantastic and prompt, the food was wonderful, for those of you who complain about the parking it is becuase the family's grandfather built it and didn't know how popular it would soon be so they didn't make a large parking lot becuase it just started out at a couple of tables, everything was great i highly recomend it, if you are going to visit in the summer i recoment to get there early because the wait doesn become long, they dont save reservations unless you are a HUGE party over 20.. go check it out! i loved it~
- Pros: EVERTHING!
- Cons: nothing

I also posted a review on Yahoo Local. I am baffled by all the five stars. Different strokes for different folks, but come on really? Five stars? For those who really truly feel this is the best Mexican food they have ever had I would really like to understand where they are coming from. Average, at best. Authentic salsa? It is a fun place to go, lots of dazzle. But the food is bland, boring, and even the waitress had a hard time trying to think of something worth recommending. Green enchiladas boring and bland. Carnitas were actually good, but everything else was mediocre.
WORST MEXICAN FOOD.

I AM FROM TEXAS AND HAD HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT THIS PLACE. FINALLY WENT DURING MY HURRICANE IKE EVACUATION. THE PLACE IS HARD TO FIND AND PARKING GOOD LUCK. THE INSIDE WAS NICELY DECORATED VERY NICE. THEIR MENUDO IS VERY GOOD AND SERVED WITH THE EXTRAS THAT ARE VITAL FOR GOOD MENUDO. AS FOR THE REST OF THE FOOD VERY TOURIST ORIENTED TACO BELL TASTING. THE QUESADILLA WAS WEIRD. INSTEAD OF A TORTILLA THEY USE A BREAD LIKE PITA BREAD WITH CHEESE. GREEN ENCHILADAS NO FLAVOR. BEANS ARE DRY OVERCOOKED. AND THEN YOU HAVE LIKE 20 MUSCIANS (TRIO'S GUITAR PLAYERS) WALKING AROUND ASKING OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO SING. COME ON GO AWAY LET ME EAT. WAITER WAS SO BUSY IT TOOK HIM FOREVER TO BRING OUR TICKET. I WENT AND SAW AND WILL NOT RETURN. DI D NOT TASTE THE PAN DULCE BUT LOOKED GOOD.
- Pros: NICELY DECORATED MEXICAN THEME
- Cons: READ AND YOU WILL FIND OUT
Good Tourist Mexican Place
by hmreyes02
This is a def. must for the San Antonio first timer or any tourist. The Mexican food is great and very authentic. It can get kind of crowded because it's located on the Market Square strip (another must). Service can be questionable sometimes and many of the waiters/staff speak little English, but the food and Mexican decor/atmosphere make up for it. The Mariachi bar is great. The "Top Shelf Margarita" is the best...especially the large, scooner one. It's a little over priced for Mexican food in San Antonio but most of that is because it's a tourist location. Mi Tierra is owned by the same people that own Las Margaritas and Pico De Gallo...also excellent restaurnts. If you want cheap authentic Mexican food, there are tons of other choices in SA...but definitely give this place a try. Oh yeah, they also have a Mexican bakery with tons of pan dulce (spanish for sweet bread). If you're staying the night in SA, then get some bread after dinner to eat with coffee in the morning...I promise you'll get hooked...lol.
- Pros: Good taste of Mexica Culture...let the mariachis sing you a song ($10 per song)
- Cons: over priced, can get crowded
Tourist trap
by villan87
Ive lived in san antonio all 21 years of my life and i finally went here for my sister in laws graduation... The food is way overpriced and not very good at all. My food was cold. the beer is expensive and the margaritas werent bery good. Its a place for tourist who have never eaten mexican food to come and think it is the best. go to las palapas or a jalisco the food is way better.
- Pros: our waitress was nice
- Cons: had to park across the street
Find Somewhere Else for Dinner

With out of town friends in town we decided to take them to a Mexican restaurant near their hotel. We selected Mi Tierra because we had read where it was a "must see" for out of town guests. Our experience was horrible. First of all we were continuously asked whether we wanted to have music played for us by strolling mariachis or asked to buy trinkets/toys for the children. This was not so bad before the meal, but while we were eating it was annoying and bothersome. Having lived in San Antonio, we have had the opportunity to sample some of the finest Mexican food in South Texas. Mi Tierra was by far the worst I have ever tasted here in San Antonio, or anywhere else. The food was salty and dry. I had better Mexican food while living in Germany. The bottom line is I was embarrassed having taken friends to Mi Tierra. We will never go there again or recommend it to anyone coming to San Antonio.
you want to have a mini fiesta..this is the place

I have so much fun when I go there..I walk around the market there and then go in for a great margarita and TexMex food..and you can't miss the bakery (at least you don't want to miss something from the bakery). Even though it is busy all of the time...it is always open so if you have been out and about San Antonio, it is a great place to stop in the middle of the night. I come all the way from Houston and NEVER miss going there..and plan to go back many times again...I love it. I am going on a road trip and will be passing back through San Antonio..and my new spouse and his daughter have never been there..so I plan on making sure we stop and introduce them to Mi Tierra...
- Pros: Great food and margaritas, open 24 hours/7days a week
- Cons: very popular and busy
Gross, No Desire To Go Back
by miffy09
I've grown up in San Antonio, and I always here people talk about Mi Tierra. When I finally went, I was appalled. The food was disgusting, the service was horrible, my silverware was dirty and it was overcrowded with tourists. I was forced to go back with a group, and my experience was even worse.
- Pros: none
- Cons: everything
