I'm Never Disappointed!! by Xochitl A. at InsiderPages

I treat myself to sushi as often as I can and there's no contest when I'm close to home - it's always Koi Kawa. I could go on forever about how great the food is. . and it IS but the best part to me is the setting where you get the best of both worlds. . the hustle and bustle of broadway straight head and the peaceful tranquil waterside setting right next to the Witte Musem. If you sit facing the front parking lot right next to a window adjacent the water it i absolute perfection. Alone or with a friend this is the best place to go and eat some great food while re-gaining some precious mental stamina both mid day or at the end of the day. I'm not easy to please. . I want it all and I get it all here!
good stuff, but not enough.

koi kawa has some awesome rolls, if you go try the vinegar roll, dragon roll and the tempura roll. too bad you dont get what you pay for. Pinner rolls.
- Pros: free parking
- Cons: canned sodas

Koi Kawa has been on Broadway by the Witte forever. The setting among the huge oaks by the Japanese fountain and stream are unique and pastoral. Their sushi rolls are as good as anywhere... I said anywhere in the world. I have been all over the far east. From traditional rolls to special rolls, a balanced selection of fried and raw rolls will please a seasoned palate and win over someone trying for the first time. You gotta eat the Special Sara and/or TNT roll--Everyone loves them. Oh yes, the sushi at the Quarry location is almost as good, but you have a modern interior.
Absolutely loved it

I just moved from california and was told to try Koi Kawa in the Quarry Market. I ordered some sashimi, wow they're fish is really fresh and that's hard to find in Texas. The server and the chef were very informative on the food and outtings to go to. The chef made me a special roll that he invented right there and then, "oh my God", it was delicious I crave it all the time. I really recommend this spot whether to dine alone or with friends.
- Pros: fish is always fresh
- Cons: parking

All I can truely say is WOW!!! I was thoroughly impressed on a Sunday night a few weeks ago and I have to say the two sushi chefs really are informative and helpful. Antony and Yancy ( I hope I spelled right) the two chefs helped me and my girlfriend pick out our sushi for us and made us some special rolls not on the menu! I am not sure if this is normal but they really made us feel important and really welcome. Our waitress though was kind of standofff-ish seemed to be having a bad day, but the sushi made up for it. If you get the time to sit for awhile see what they have to offer and by the way unlike all of the other "sushi" bars in town they only have a couple of rolls with cream cheese on them wich is a good thing.
- Pros: informative chefs

My girl friend and I drove in from Austin and ate there last weekend, we eat sushi very often in Austin, but this place has the best sushi in town. Sushi chefs are very friendly to us, they constantly checking on our meals, they even offered us sample of their new sushi rolls. Their sushi are very fresh and the size is above average sushi bar, I highly recommand this place if you are a sushi eater.
- Pros: Good sushi menu, Friendly service, good price

Not a real sushi bar- just a trendy wanna-be. Some of the worst sushi I've ever had. They don't even serve tempura. The server was nice, but didn't know anything about sushi. Don't waste your time.
good enough for a sushi bar??

I ate here with my bf when we took out our friend for his birthday. yes, it looked like a sushi bar and all but i didn't even see a japanese cook or waiter. the food was pretty pricey, you get 6 pieces of sushi for about 8 dollars. they do sell sake and some other asian beverages if that is what you're looking for. the place is pretty trendy and it's located in the famous quarry market, right behind the movie theater so it is not very hard to find. the serving of food it not that much so if you want to get full, try going somewhere else where it is not as expensive... i give it a 6.
- Pros: good parking, waiters not attentive
- Cons: expensive

Fish is best served fresh and San Antonio is not near the sea. But I have to give credit to this restaurant for the freshest Maguro in town. The fastest service which if you have been to places like Goros you will appreciate. I have actually gotten out of there in 15 min.(to see a movie). For the exceptional sushi lovers who know fresh from trash(you know who you are) try this place out. Ask what is fresh, and imbibe. Its not Japan or even close, but for what its worth its the best in the city.
- Pros: fresh fish, great service, kind staff
- Cons: ponsue sauce, is bad
