Overated
by joegom
Played jan 2004: Course was in great shape, but overall I was disappointed. There are only about 4 or 5 holes on the back nine that really stand out. Regular green fees are outrageous, but they have some good specials. Didn't catch his name, but the starter was great. His one liners made me laugh. Although it's a good course, there are better courses for the money.

If you've got the green, you might as well spend it here.

The Links
This 6,740-yard course has been lauded as one of the top courses in Texas. But Quarry's unique back nine is what sets it apart. Holes 10 through 18 sprawl across an 88-acre quarry floor, with 100-foot vertical walls lining three of the course's four boundaries. A lake adds extra challenge to the layout.
The Neighbors
The high class Alamo Heights homes perched atop the old quarry cliffs seem so close to the fairways that you could almost break a window with an errant drive. But if you can afford to play at the Quarry, you can probably afford to fix a broken window.
The Fancy-Schmancy Stuff
The Quarry Golf Club offers tournament packages and on-site catering. A large pavilion, located in the clubhouse, hosts banquets, tournament functions and social get-togethers. A restaurant and bar is located in the clubhouse along with a fully stocked pro shop, all of which have a commanding view of the entire back nine.
Quarry Not the Best

Although the Quarry involves natural beauty along with a nice design, La Cantera is a much better course in the San Antonio area. The value is better at the Quarry however. If I had my pick between the two, my personal pick would be La Cantera Resort Course hands down.
