MOST UNSAFE RESTAURANT. DON'T EAT HERE. DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH.

Don't eat at the Phoenix Chinese Cafe. They must have a very unsanitary and unsafe kitchen. They used to be my favorite- good portions and reasonable prices. But that doesn't make up for having glass in your food. Yep, broke my tooth. The management apologized, and gave me my money back and put me in touch with their insurance agent. Which was what they should have done - but the insurance agent said they don't pay claims and wouldn't even take the claim leaving me a $2000. bill. If you value your teeth and your health you will stay far, far away from Phoenix Chinese Cafe.

The restaurant was okay a couple years ago, but has become increasingly intolerable. None of my Chinese friends go there any more. Its food is not authentic as others have claimed and is actually quite tasteless. The service is even worse. If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, try Chef Chan's or Gin Chinese Restaurant. If you are looking for good but somewhat Americanized Chinese food, try Golden Wok, Formosa Garden, or P F Chang. If you are looking for good Chinese buffet, try China Harbor.

The best authentic chinese resturant in SA Hands down!!!

My girlfriend and I have been to this particular resturant numerous times and there dishes are compared to that of great chinese resturants in Houston and Austin. We already knew it was a good sign since a bunch of chinese people eat there. The service is okay at times but the food is simpy amazing. Make sure to ask for the dim sum menu too. I don't know why people keep on raving on P.F. Changs since it is soo expensive and americanized. Same thing with Golden Wok and there scaled down dim sum. If your looking for food like hot pots, seafood, and authentic noodle dishes go down to Phoneix. It soo worthout in terms of price and quality. Beef hotpot and beef flat noodles for the win!

best chinese restaurant in SA

This is the best tasting Chinese restaurant in the entire city of San Antonio. I'm married to a chinese woman and her family is from Hong Kong and Los Angeles. As such, they are used to good Chinese food. Every time we visit, they insist on Phoenix Cafe. Prior to discovering Phoenix Cafe, we've been to all, but they rated Phoenix Cafe the best in SA. Their food (including dim sum served all day) and prices are the best. Beats Golden Wok for the taste of dim sum. Their atmosphere can be better, but then again, who cares when their food tastes so good! Very Authentic!
