great food but now gone

tai orchid was a great place to eat.........the food was great and we never had any problems with the staff or the owner...............they were always very attentive to all of my family.........it is a shame that the business was sold.................

Mediocre food, dark restaurant, inattentive service

Slow service, dirty carpet, odd trinkets for sale in display glass. Soup was too salty. Pad thai tasted old and reheated.

good buffet

i've only been here once for the lunch buffet. there wasn't a very wide variety, but what they had was very good. i couldn't get enough of their spring rolls!! i will definately go back, but i prefer others (Thai Taste, Sarika's)

Greatest Thai Restaurant in SA

I love Thai Orchid! It is my favorite Thai restaurant in SA. The food is excellent, the restaurant is clean and peaceful, the service can at times be spotty but the owners are wonderful, and you get plenty of food for your money (esp. with the buffet). I would recommend to anyone!!

Good Buffet, Mediocre Service

I've always really enjoyed the food here. I've only ever come for the lunch buffet, but the selections there are very tasty. There's always several favorites to choose from. The service is rather inattentive. Not problem for the food, since it's a buffet, but when you're looking for a drink (Thai food is spicy!) or your check, it can be hard to flag someone down. Overall, I recommend it for the food, but start looking for a waiter when you're glass is still 1/2 full.

Buffet is good

I have always enjoy my visits to Thai Orchid. The buffet offers good choices and there is always several items I really like. The spring rolls are a welcomed item since they are not fried and taste really good. The stews are very flavorful. I will go back anytime.

Barely enjoyable.

While the landscaping outside was nice and the selection of trinkets was impressive, the rest of the meal experience was unremarkable. The waiter was impolite, the table was VERY dark and it took nearly 45 minutes to receive the meal. I'm glad I visited Thai Orchid but I will not be returning.
