The building is unique and intricate in it's design. The food was definitely the best Italian I've ever eaten. We went through 4 loaves of the free bread alone! Everyone at the table was very impressed with their meals. There was great music playing and just enough empty tables to not feel too crowded. The server was knowledgeable, thoughtful and prompt. The wait for food is a little long, and the pricing a little steep but, it is well worth it. I'd recommend this place to any of my friends.
Pros: Atmosphere, taste.
Cons: Price, wait.

When you first walk in you think that it is going to be a great experience. However, First glance at the wine menu and it is weak. I ask the waiter for great recommendation for a great Cab and Kendell Jackson was the top choice . Any wine menu that has Reunitti has Cheap written all over it. There was live music on an electric grand piano which got better when the electric drum beat was heard during "strangers in the night". The best was when the entire wait staff sang happy birthday (Applebees style) to the top of their lungs while clapping. I was so upset because I couldn't hear "Girl from Ipenema" on the electric grand piano. I will say the people are friendly...IT IS JUST A CHEEZZEEY PLACE!

The food is like something you would make at home (your first attempt at Italian). The chicken I ordered was $12.00 and was basically four small medallions. It probably cost about $3.00 in the store. My husband had the chicken parmesean and the sauce tasted like lemon juice. The waitress rushed us, I felt like I was in a diner. I have been here before and thought it was good enough to return, but I will not be going back.

The ambience suggests that you are going to have a great dining experience, but once the food comes out disappointment sets in. The pasta sauce appears to have been made from a powder mix. The bread dipping oil lacked flavor, as did my husband's pasta dish. I'd say that this place is about on the same scale as Olive Garden - not the freshest ingredients or the best taste. Not horrible, but for the prices they charge (approx. $15 a plate), I was expecting something a lot better. Also, the meatless pasta dishes are way overpriced, about $12 for plain pesto linguini. You can get better quality food for about the same price or less at Trilogy or a number of other Italian restaurants in town. I agree with the reviewer that commented that this place "is aspiring to be like Macaroni Grill." However, it fails.
Pros: clean, comfortable
Cons: overpriced, lacks quality

I go to Pompeii, among other Italian restaurants around town, and I have to say that this place is a gem. The food is always fantastic, and the price is almost laughable...food this great would cost you an arm and a leg at Paesano's or Aldo's, which Im starting to think are a bit overrated compared to here. My wife and I can order wine, and a 3-course meal and the check will still be under $50 On top of that, I always have to take home leftover....you can never finish their huge portions of food. I can go on and on about how beautiful the place is, too. pros: incredible food, great prices. cons: fair-great service, depending on who your server is. When there's a big crowd on Fridays and Saturdays, it can be pretty loud.

When my friend and I first got to the restraunt, we were greeted very promptyl. We then sat down and were asked what we wanted to drink, WE WAITED 15 minutes before we recieved our drinks. We had our bread before anything. Then our food came 20 minutes later. People who sat down 10 minutes after we did recieved their salads and drink and food LONG before we did. Overall I am very disapointed with this restaurant, for $11 I got the worst Service in the whole City of San Antonio. Next time I will definatley not choose to go here when I am craving ITALIAN!
Pros: suroundings, lasagna was good!!
Cons: bad service, no ranch dressing, tables are to close

My impression is that Pompeii aspires to be like Macaroni Grill, but can't measure up. I will say that the service was pretty good; our waitress filled the bread more than once and was prompt in bringing our food. The bread was very yummy, but the rest of the food made the experience unenjoyable overall. The salad dressing had a strange flavor I couldn't identify. I swear the manicotti (which i normally love) came out of a can - the sauce and filling were totally flavorless and the noodles were very overcooked. It reminded me of what my college dorm used to serve. My husband's alfredo sauce was runny, like. At least the food was pretty cheap, but still I came away feeling overcharged.
Pros: Decent service
Cons: Poor quality food

My husband and I went at end of October and found the food to be wonderful. The bread was crusty on outside and soft on inside, nice and hot. DELISH!!! We had the most wonderful, pleasant waiter. His name was Floyd. I will definitely ask for him next time. He was always there to fill our drinks or bring more bread. Very amusing, also. We really enjoyed our time there. Next time we will go a little later in evening so we can enjoy the live music/singing that starts at 7:00
Pros: food quality, ambience

This is a good American Italian restaurant. I had a dish with artichokes and chicken with mushrooms in a wine sauce. It was wonderful, and the portion was enough to easily satisfy two hungery people, and I'm a fat girl...LOL! It came with a side of pasta with garlic herb butter on it. It was so good I could have just ordered it to eat and nothing else. The tiramisu was ok. Not the best, but definately not the worst. The waitress wasn't very attentive, but still tip worthy. I would go back next time I have about $25 to spend on one dinner, and I would definately recommend this place to anyone.
Pros: wonderful food, good atmosphere
Cons: , service needs tune-up
