Best campsite around

I love this place. I try to go back every few years to enjoy the experience and have lots of fun memories. The campsites are nice and usually clean. As for the review that talks about the slow service for getting tubes, this is every place to rent tubes. It just comes with the experience...patience is a virtue! But once you walk that stretch and are ready to get in the cold river, there is nothing like it. This is a great place to camp and tube at the same time...but if you are not camping, you may try the chute!!

The best in town!

I used to live on this campground. It was always a huge party. Be sure to call ahead to check the river flow or you might end up walking the river instead of floating. There is a deposit required for renting tubes and rafts, but because people sometimes end up destroying or losing their property. And if you tube the horseshoe yes, you do have to walk a little over a quarter of a mile. But they get so overwhelmed that their shuttles only have time to pick people up from down river. Without a doubt the experience is worth every trouble and expense. Truly the experience is what you make of it. If you go with the mindset that they cater to you, then you will be miserable. But I personally know the staff and their policies. And I also thoroughly enjoyed living there.

Staff was not very helpful

We tubed with Whitewater Sports on 8/12/06 & it was awful!!! We left our campgrounds to come here to tube the Horseshoe...supposedly a relaxing 2 1/2 hour float, NOT!!! The staff was very unhelpful & was not at all in a hurry to move to the next person in line when they were finished with the previous transaction. On top of tube rental & parking fees, they charge a $20 deposit per tube...even after they hold your car keys! It's a good thing I had my bank card in the car, otherwise we would have been out of luck. When we finally got though the line we had to walk a little ways to pick up our tubes, then HIKE about a half mile to drop in the river...they didnt even offer shuttle services for this route!!! By the time we dropped in, most of our party was ready to upchuck from the heat & just head back to camp. The river was crowded & cold (I expected the cold) & VERY low!!! Out of our 2 1/2 hour "float", we only floated about 45 minutes...we had to get up & drag our tubes across the rocks the rest of the way...all the while dodging drunk college kids with their tubes tied together...trapping anyone who may cross them. (By the way, once you drop in, you're stuck on the river until the end of your route...the banks are all private property.) If the river is low, don't put people on it for a miserable trip just so you can make a buck!!!! What a horrible experience!!!!!
