SAT is not a sprawling behemoth with a theme-park feel like many modern airports, but rather a well-functioning, unfettered little dynamo. While the addition of two concourses and other expansion measures are likely by 2015, 14 airlines currently make good use of the airport's two terminals with nonstop flights to 31 destinations, including hubs across the country and Mexico. Technology centers in each of SAT's terminals allow business travelers to be productive while they wait for their planes.

An overhaul to retail areas is underway and will add 10,000 square feet of concession space and new tenants, including eateries with local significance like George Gervin's Sports Bar & Grill and Rosario's.
