Frederick's is a San Antonio Gem. In Alamo Heights, not downtown, plenty of on site parking. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service. After starting with Oysters on the half shell, seven large, lovely oysters, light dipping sauces that allowed the delicate oyster flavor to come through, I had the Osso Buco special, not bone-in, but very savory and delicious. My wife began with scallops topped with caviar over blanched spinach in a light butter sauce, then beef filet with an excellent Bearnaise sauce, both very good. The apple tort with green tea ice cream we had for dessert was different and quite tasty, too. The wine list is fine, but might be a bit more expansive. Everything was prepared exactly as ordered and beautifully presented.

We've eaten at good sit-down restaurants all over and found Frederlck's an excellent dining experience. These folks know how to do it.

Not that great. Just average. Had escargot, spring roll and oyster appetizers, nothing was mouth watering, no unique or complex flavors. Roquefort salad dressing was bland-- how do you manage that? Main course snapper baked with truffles, just tasted like heavy cream poured over fish. Wasn't bad food, but very very bland. Service was good. Won't go back, prefer other french restaurants in town...gave it a try because of good reviews, and it wasn't that great.

Oui, Oui. We dined for lunch on a Fri afternoon, we started w/the smoked duck salad, one of the best I've tasted, lightly smoked duck, slices of green apple-delicious. I had the seafood curry-included shrimp, squid & scallops w/rice & veggies-very satisfying. My date had the steak frite-I believe it was a hanger cut or london broil, either way it was a little over cooked & just ddn't have enough "beefy" flavor but overall alright. The fries were good 'n crisp though. The service was excellent & accommodating. Other diners seemed to having an equally good food & service as well. Even the French clients at the next table! I'm ready to go back!

WOW. WOW. That's my review. Fredrick's is awesome. There's nothing I can add that the other reviews haven't already stated.

Best cuisine in San Antonio. My wife and I have been eating at Frederick?s for over three years now. We try to eat there at least once every couple of weeks and there is always a new special for my wife and me to hear about. To be quite honest, this is one of the only restaurants where we change our routine and try one of the chef?s specials. The Chef de Cuisine, Francis Peran will never let you down! Even though they are very busy, they seat us as promptly as possible, and it?s usually Frederick himself greeting us with an open hand and making us feel at home. They have a large selection of wine, a full bar and the French / Asian fusion is wonderful on the pallet. The only thing greater than the food or wine is the service. Frederick?s is always on top of all of our needs when we dine there, and that helps make it much more relaxing and romantic for us. I highly recommend setting a reservation or doing a call ahead. They have a private room for larger parties, such as rehearsal dinners. I?m almost certain they cater as well. When you enter Frederick's, be prepared for the finest San Antonio has to offer.

Best of show...period!. My husband and I like to go to Frederick's every time we want to relax, talk, be romanitc, share our day..we go for every reason. And we have never ever been disappointed. We love almost everything on the entire menu!

If you want to be totally taken care of, and have an incredible meal - this is the place!

French Fusion at it's best. I have never had a bad meal or even worse an OK (eeek) meal. Everytime I go in I feel as though Fred thought I was the local food critic and took special care with my meal (I'm not and he didn't). Not just a fancy place for a special dinner but a wonderful place to dine for no reason at all. Reasonable wines and a full bar make this a go to place for almost every occasion. French fused with Vietnamese creates an exciting change from the typical french cuisine found in San Antonio.

Great food. To not visit Frederick's while living or visiting San Antonio is a tragedy. I have eaten at Frederick's several times over the last year and I'm impressed much more with each visit. The wait staff is prompt, professional and courteous and I never went without while dining at this very elegant venue. The seafood is by far the best on earth and it's their sauces that can be found no where else that make the meal. I recommend their special oysters and the Frederick's salad to start off with and their stuffed flounder as your main entree. Be sure to make reservations!!

It is honestly impossible to find any way to compare a restaurant to my experiences here.

The BEST EVER. We've been all over the world, and dines at many places rated among the best by the standard guides. This ranks right up there with the best food served anywhere in the world, at any price! Service was great without being obnoxious. When the wine ordered was not available, an excellent substitute was offered at the same price as that ordered.
