I fully admit I am biased because I find Bikram yoga limiting and trendy in the first place, but still, I thought supplementing my practice with this style couldn't hurt. The owners are a couple who operate studios on Broadway and off of 281. I took a Sunday class with the female owner and it reminded me more of my experience in bootcamp than anything to do with yoga. She was overbearing and did not allow me to practice to my full potential by moving deeper into poses. In addition, she told me I was not allowed to wipe my sweat away with a towel or use the towel to deepen any pose. I understand the philosophy behind this, however, she did not explain it to me and seemed to be threatened by anyone who questioned her. To me, practicing yoga is a personal journey, not just a regimented or dictated exercise routine . In addition, everyone gets up and leaves during shavasana which is very distracting and does not honor the importance of this restorative pose.
Pros: diverse, many types of people
Cons: overbearing, trendy, commercial
