Horrible, Horrible, Horrible
by KatyBourne
Avoid this place. Staff is rude and the piano guys are horrible. One screeches his way through the songs (at least he is nice looking) and the other one thinks hes a country singer but hasnt found the key he sings in and can't keep in tune (and is nothing to look at).
Its a shame this place carries the Pat OBriens name.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Everything
HORRIBLE!!!
by supadallas
This place stinks! The service was terrible and the food was just as bad. Our waitress got our drink/food orders and then split. After eating half of the poor tasting food we waited 20 minutes before we finally spotted her duck in the kitchen. My husband had to go into the kitchen to tell her we needed our check. We lived in New Orleans for three years and this place does no justice to the original Pat O's.
- Pros: Cheap food
- Cons: The service and food
POOR POOR AND WORST
by tamikinns
I Dont recomend this place at all. Went here to have a good time after NCAA celebration, and were greeted RUDELY at the door. Paid cover charge to be there not but an hr. The bouncers inside think they can grab and assult people just because they work there and once the police come..they are no whrere to be found..hmmmm. My husb and I went with a small group , were cursed at by an employee and asked to leave after an accidental bump even tho we apologized. They werent going to allow us to even close our tab, when we refused to leave without OUR CREDITCARD, the biggest bouncer there slammed my husband and choked him repeatedly and no one even helped that worked there..they jus said they couldnt get him off. My husband is left with 2 black eyes and bruises on his neck. We are filing assult charges, this was just uncalled for. I will NEVER go there again. And I dont recomend it at all. To top it off they overcharged my card 50.00 more than what we had agreed.
- Pros: music was good
- Cons: poor staff and judgement by them being the actual staff of "customer service"

Great food and fun atmosphere
by jskonz
My son and I went to Pat O'Briens on a recent visit to SA and really enjoyed it. The alligator bites appetizer was just 'okay' but the shrimp creole and red bean and rice were excellent. The hurricanes were pretty good as well. Nice atmosphere and live music when we went. If I lived in SA I could see going there often.
- Pros: Good Food, good atmosphere, live music
- Cons: parking can be difficult
Best Piano Bar In San Antonio
by austinman39
A group of people and myself were at the San Antonio Pat O'Briens last Saturday night. We spent the evening in the piano bar and what a great time we had. The staff were friendly and accomodating, especially our waitress Kate, what a hard worker. She was right on top of replenishing our drinks. The piano show was really fun. Go and see Summer and Brad perform. They were hilarious, especially Brad and had our table in stiches watching them batlle guy and girl songs. The other two players were ok, but the real draw are these two. They work really well together. Summer has an awesome voice and Brad kept the audience singing along and their duets rock. We couldnt wait for their hour breaks between stage time for them to come back. They even got the audience to stand up and sing the national anthem. The only drawback we could think of was the five dollar cover but even still it was an enjoyable evening.
- Pros: Excellent service and entertainment
- Cons: Five dollar cover.
Poor Service/Does not accommodate groups

After attending a wedding in San Antonio, we decided to venture to the Riverwalk for a post wedding celebration. The entire wedding party was there, and we thought what better way to celebrate than to go to Pat O Brien's...BIG MISTAKE. Upon arrival we were treated very rudely by the doorman, and then requested to speak to the manager on duty. The manager on duty arrived and was also arrogant and non-accomodating to our group. We had over 15 people with us, along with a bride and groom. We all paid the door charge for a whopping one hour of service( or lack there of) and experienced nothing but rude bar staff, non-air conditioned facilities, and an over-crowded mix of drunken tourists! Needless to say, we will not be stoppin back at this bar on our next trip to the Alamo City. If you want the real experience, I would recommend Pat O"Briens in New Orleans. Don't waste your time with this Mc Donald's of a franchise. If you are in San Antonio, try one of the other hundreds of bars featuring music/entertainment, that are actually nice while taking your money. There are too many bars (and piano bars) on the Riverwalk to experience, to waste your time at this establishment!!
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Service, Service, Service
Second best bar I know of.
by gbromagen
Go here. This bar is by far one of my favorite bars in the world - as long as it's a weekend. Pat O's has a few bars really. One of them is set up with patio style seating and with the nighttime weather here in San Antonio it's a wonderful place to sit and drink a New Orleans style hurricane. The other bar is a piano bar which is always packed friday and saturday night. Pcked. you have to get there before 10:30 to get a good seat and I recommend getting a good seat. Everyone writes their song requests on napkins and gets to hear them played on dueling pianos for a reasonable tip. The piano players, as a whole, are friendly, extremely talented and a lot of fun. All of them really, except for the fat one. The fat male piano player is a surly, money grubbing, tip monger who pretty much ruins his performance by inserting miserable ploys to get paid. The fat ruins the show. But all the others are wonderful.
This is a great place to come to if your visiting from out of town, tourists or conventioneers. It's also a wonderful place to take your friends for their birthdays.
What else...you should get the hurricanes. it's an overpriced rum based drink but they taste fantastic and two or three of them get you good and boozed up. Kepp an eye on the waitresses and your tab however. I've been in a couple situations where the waitresses have tried to fudge my tab by a good fifty dollars. But it's right down town and if you don't like it try another bar down the street.
- Pros: great drinks, great atmosphere, fantastic piano shows
- Cons: slow service, no good parking.
