A block from the bus station and feels like it!. Without question the worst (and, in fact, only) dissatisfied hotel stay I've ever had in San Antonio. I have stayed in San Antonio 10-plus times and never had a bad experience - until now. The hotel staff was polite. My compliments end there.

The parking garage, for starters, is a block away from the hotel and costs $23.75 a day ... in San Antonio! If the price wasn't upsetting initially, you have plenty of time to get upset as you trek along the hideous underground walkway with your luggage. God help you if you're traveling with children or elderly people.

Aside from the gentleman painting in my room when I walked in, the smell of wood stain was overwhelming. That would be because had just re-stained the desk that I couldn't use for the next 12 hours. With no windows that would open, you can imagine how my room smelled. To go on in a prose form like this, I'll surely run out of space. So here is a list of the hotel faux pas - mind you this was in just a two-night stay:

- Long black woman's hair in bath tub and on bathroom floor (I am a man with short blonde hair, just so we're clear. When I reported it I was asked if I wanted housekeeping to clean that up. Maybe, or could it have been cleaned prior to my arrival?)

- Any room ending in the numbers 11 or 12, prepare for the hotel flood lights at night, seriously flood lights that shine up the side of the hotel. Great for sleeping!

- My room key was not coded to allow me out of the remote parking garage. Great fun.

- False fire alarm went off at 5 a.m.

- A/C went out during the night. Nothing like waking up in a "4 Star hotel" that's 78 degrees with windows that don't open.

- DON'T fall for the pictures on the website, especially the "Outdoor River Plaza", what a joke! Completely bare concrete.

- Pecan Street Pub is closed and looks like a storage closet

- Coffee maker ... broken

- Water fountain in the dungeon walkway ... broken.

I'm running out of space but I could go on. Don't stay there. Don't!

Not worth the money. For my boyfriends b-day I planned a trip to San Antonio for the first week in Dec. and wanted to stay somewhere close to the "famed" Riverwalk. I had stayed in previous Crowne Plaza hotels (in other cities) and thought it would be an excellent choice. We arrived in San Antoinio around 10 p.m most places were closed, but I did not think it would be a big deal since the hotel had a restarant and buffet. Both were closed. Not only that, you would think since it is downtown there would be an eatery or two close to the hotel. Wrong again. So we had to settle for the overprice room service which consisted of a stale sandwich and a small bag of Lay's chips. I tried to be romantic and ordered room service for breakfast it was not much better. The staff was no help in finding a place to eat they are clueless.

The only thing that saved this weekend was the actual "Riverwalk" once we finally found it. No one bothers to tell you it is quite a hike from the hotel. My advice go ahead and pay the extra money for the hotels that actually sit on the Riverwalk close to the shops and restaurants.

By the way, they give you an option for self parking $16 per day or valet parking $ 28 per day. Go ahead and take the valet parking, since self parking consists of parking on the side of the street.
