My boyfriend and I live close to the Town Talk Diner and we couldn't be happier. Being within stumbling distance from a restaurant that continues to bravely throw new concoctions on their drink menu that include ingredients such as bacon infused vodka shows hutzpah and many of the drinks I've sampled are above average. If you don't like being someone's guinea pig then the servers are happy to steer you towards favorite selections. There has only been one occasion when I have received less than stellar food or service and this was at brunch. I would stick to their evening offerings and plan to wait for a table as they tend to have at least a 15 minute wait (that's nothing) and you can sample those drinks I was mentioning. The adult milkshakes are worth the price of admission.
Pros: Unique Drinks, Changing Menu

Let me start by saying that I love food. All food. And I've never regretted spending $100 on a meal until now. Everything about our dinner at the Talk Town Diner was average or less than average. The vegetarian pizza was good, but incredibly light on vegetables. My fiance's burger and fries were boring. The burger itself was actually dry and the fries were something I would expect from a fast food restaurant rather than an upscale diner. I ordered the duck burgers with bourbon ketchup and perhaps I'm a minority, but I never expected raw duck burgers. I've had duck many times at some of the best French restaurants in the country, so I didn't expect duck tartare on a bun. I'm not exaggerating. It had the slightest sear and the rest of the patty was completely raw. (The server assured me this was how they intended it to be prepared). And finally, even the bourbon ketchup failed miserably. It was bourbon, poured on top of my ketchup. It looked and tasted like they had prepared it at the bar. I had heard such wonderful things about Talk Town, but we won't even give it a second chance after tonight. Oh and by the way, our appetizer took 45 minutes to arrive. They brought us out complimentary chips after 25 minutes as an apology.

We tried this place for brunch after several people recommended it to us. The food was good but not oustanding, the hash and the pancakes were both quite tasty. The service was the worst I've experienced in recent memory. We had a large party, so we made a reservation in advance. We didn't all arrive at one, but the latest of our group arrived about 10 minutes after the reservation time. It took some time to get our order in, mostly because our server did it in 3 stages. (For some unknown reason she left twice before taking everyone's order - once to take the orders of a nearby table, once to refill coffee at a couple of other tables). An hour passed and our food had not arrived (though nearby tables who came in well after us had been served), so we said something about it. A guy who I presume to be the manager came over said that it had actually only been 26 minutes, and basically told us any delay was due to our party not being on time. Arguing with unhappy customers is no way to get them to come back. I don't know where the 26 minutes came from, we'd been waiting for well over an hour by the time we said something, so I guess his math skills were no better than his customer service skills. If I were judging this place on food alone, I'd probably give it 4 stars. But a place that tells customers who have been waiting over an hour that no, they've really only been waiting less than half an hour, and that to the extent they have been waiting, it's their fault, is not a place I plan to return.

As I entered Talk Town Diner for the first time I was confused. There was no one there to greet me so I walked up to the first sever wearing a purple headband. The headband was actually being used for its purpose rather than fashion. It was saturated with sweat. Ewwwwwww. I then said, “I have never been here before and was wondering, do we just sit anywhere?". His reply was "NO” and the way he said it was the problem. He pointed to a table and then I got the pleasure of having this guy as my server. He proceeded to go through the regular dining motions i.e. specials, waters, and the "give you a moment to decide". He didn't come back. I finally made the eye contact move and signaled him over. (I like to call people by their names, but since he never told us his....) I then proceeded to ask if i could order some drinks, which I thought was his job. My next round I had to signal again. The food was good but definitely cannot outweigh the service. This was a first date and I was not impressed with her either. Ha.
Pros: Food
Cons: service, parking, headbands

I love the drinks here. I got the Peanut Butter/Chocalate/Brandly Malt and it was Amazing!!! Food is good but very expensive for what you get. Also it’s American bland food like a grilled cheese sandwich and fries, things you can just make at home for a much cheaper price. Best place to go out late night for drinks, outside seating is available, retro decorations, friendly staff.
Pros: Interesting Drinks, Ambience, Outside Seating
Cons: Parking, Expensive, Small

Went on a Monday night, it was busy but we got a table right away. Our server was friendly and personable. We had the cheese curds and the frickles. Then we had the greens and grains salad-what an excellent combination of flavors and the daily special which was gnocchi. Both were fantastic. We tried several of their cocktails and the manhatten was divine. I just loved this place! It was clean, organized and what a fun menu!
Pros: Cheese curds, frickles, greens and grain salad
Cons: parking

I was in the Town Talk this previous weekend for dinner and had a fantastic time. The service was exemplary and the food was out of this world. Talented Chef Tony Callies was experimenting with the traditional Turkey dinner and the plate put before me reminded me of Thanksgiving dinners I had with my Grandparents out west years ago. I was also able to partake in some amazing after dinner "adult" malts. The Silly Rabbit was the closest thing to drinking the milk out of a bowl of Trix cereal that you can find out there and it served to warm my belly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys unbelievable food served with a sense of humor.

I understand, and even like, the whole idea of kitsch dining, but this was ridiculous. There's a line between kitsch and just poor manners - note to our server: Don't talk to the table of your friends seated next to us about how sick you've been, that you thought you were going to die, that you've had the chills and sweats off-and-on all day, then proceed to pick up our food and pour our drinks. Gross! The entire staff seemed to be more consumed by their own egos and talking with their friends than actually taking care of the customers. In short - live it up now guys because at the rate you're going you'll be gone in a year.

looooong waits for overpriced drinks that weren't very good, and for mediocre food. 2hrs for brunch after seated >$25 a head for lame diner food--very disappointed. We're foodies eating out 4-5 x's wkly so we know dining out. This one's OFF the list!

The apps were the best part of the menu for sure. The entrees were also very tasty. I love the vintage bar and adult malts. Late night dinning that isn't a short menu. Love it.
Pros: Food, bar, drinks, mini beer bottles
Cons: parking
